Statement of Problem: With due attention to the control of quality of dental materials and its role in improvement of quality and accuracy of treatment, in this research, Zoiiran made in Golchai company was evaluated according to international standards.
Purpose: The aim of this study was the evaluation of properties of Zinc-oxide-eugenoi reinforced cement with trade name "Zoiiran".
Materials and Methods: According to ISO 3107, BS 7214, EN 23107 standards (1991), the number of samples were as follows: 2 for setting time, 5 for compressive strength, 4 for disintegration and 3 for film thickness testing. The experiments were followed standards instructions.
Results: Setting time was between 5.57-6.03 min. The compressive strength was between 21.29-25.79 MPa. Zoiiran had about 1.3-1.5 % disintegration. Finally, the film thickness was between 11-11.5 u.
Conclusion: According to mentioned experiments, physical properties of Zoiiran as temporary cement of fixed-prosthodontic (Typel-class I) and base liner (Type IV-class I), were similar to stated standards.

Background and Aims: Improper feeding is one of the most important etiologic factors in early childhood caries (ECC). In some clinical trials, breast feeding (BF) is mentioned as a causing factor in ECC. Results in this topic are different or even controversial. It is vital that all general advices given out are consistent with general health education messages. The aim of this study was to conduct a systematic review on the relationship between breast feeding and early childhood caries.

Materials and Methods: Articles, guidelines, related books, and specific databases such as SID, PubMed, Scirus, Elsevier, American Association of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD), American Association of Pediatrics (AAP) and American Dental Association (ADA) were searched for related topics cited since 1990. Early childhood caries definition, breast feeding and other variables such as sample size, study location and study design were analyzed.

Results: According to data analysis, there was a lack of methodological consistency and inconsistent definitions of ECC and BF in the literature making it difficult to draw conclusions. Results about relationship between prolonged BF and ECC were inconclusive. There was a positive relationship between nocturnal BF and ECC. A history of BF did not have any effect on the caries incidence.

Conclusion: Because of the role of breast feeding in children's health, it is important to inform the parents about the possibility of dental caries due to nocturnal breast feeding.

Background and Aims: The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of sodium bicarbonate against candida albicans, the main infectious factor of denture stomatitis, and to compare it with other common anti-candida medications.

Materials and Methods: Three concentrations of Candida albicans (105, 106, 107 CFU/mL) were prepared. Experimental substances were 5% sodium bicarbonate, nystatin, chlorhexidine, and sterile saline (as control). Each of them was added separately to the same amounts of Candida albicans of different concentrations, and sampled at the intervals of 1, 2, 3 and 4 min. Then, the samples were cultured and incubated. The number of formed colonies was counted for each plate. The data were analyzed, using ANOVA and Tukey test.

Results: Sodium bicarbonate showed a noticeable anti-candida effect on the concentrations of 105 and 106 CFU/mL, with almost similar anti-candida effect as nystatin and chlorehexidine(P=0.29, P=0.32). Nystatin was the most effective medication on the concentration of 107 CFU/mL of candida (P=0.03, P=0.01). Sodium bicarbonate and chlorhexidine were less effective in this concentration with no statistically significant difference (P=1.00).

Conclusion: Sodium bicarbonate showed a significant anti-candida effect at low and medium concentrations of Candida albicans, but nystatin was more effective in the higher concentrations.

Background and Aims: The dentistry profession is one of the most injuring professions that causes most pains and hurts for dentists because of their lack of knowledge about the ergonomic position through the work. The purpose of this study was to assess the ergonomic position of dentists with RULA method in dentists of Bojnord.
Materials and Methods: In this cross-sectional study, all of the Bojnord’s county dentists were selected. RULA method and Nowerdik questionnaire were used for investigating the agronomical position, and muscular-skeleton position, respectively. The analysis was done by SPSS22 using regression and chi-square test. A P-value of less than 0.005 was assumed as significant.
Results: The most muscle-skeleton reports were 55.6% (35 persons) related to back, 54% (34 persons) related to shoulders, 50.8% (32 persons) related to waist, and 47.6% (30 persons) related to neck aches. In the last 12 months, 90.5% of dentists reported pains from at least one of organs of their bodies and 27% were supposed to leave their works which the sex (P=0.84), length (P=0.75), and weight (P=0.38) were not significantly related to this case.
Conclusion: According to the results of this study educational interventions is essential to prevent the musculoskeletal disorders in dentistry.

Background and Aims: Today, smoking is recognized as a major health problem and an impediment to development in many developing countries. This is the reason of early deaths and disabilities which leads to death of about 4 million people around the globe annually. This study aimed at assessing the awareness and attitude among the students last years dental at Yazd Shahid Sadooghi Medical School in providing consultation for giving up smoking.
Materials and Methods: This study was a descriptive sectional study that evaluated the awareness and attitudes of students last years dental at school of dentistry. Data was collected through standard questionnaires and were analyzed by T test and Pierson correlation coefficient in SPSS18 software.
Results: A total of 110 students participated in this study. Awareness mean's score of female students was 18.38 and male students 17.66. The attitude mean's score of female students was 31.06 and the male students was 32.45. Based on the correlation coefficient of awareness with age (0.112), with the semester (-0.001) and with a GPA (0.76), it was concluded that awareness with increasing age and GPA increased, and with increasing semester decreases. Also, based on the correlation coefficient of attitude with age (0.013), with the academic semester (0.018) and with a GPA (0.008), it was concluded that attitude with increasing age, semester, and GPA was improved.
Conclusion: Despite the relatively good attitude of dental students about smoking cessation counseling, their awareness was poor. Therefore, the need to revise the education programs and steps in the field of training are required.
