Abstract

Background: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of concurrent training on pre-inflammatory (IL-1β, TNF-α) and anti-inflammatory (IL-10) cytokines gene expression in women with type2 diabetes.
Methods: 18-patients (age30-38, >130 glycemic index) were selected, randomly, and divided into control (n=6) the concurrent training(diabetes, n=6) and the concurrent training (healthy, n=6)  groups. The concurrent training protocol consisted of 3 sessions resistance training per week, 8sets with 80% one maximum repetition( and the endurance training preformed with 30- minutes running (3sets×10 minutes) on a treadmill with 70-80 maximum heart rate(70-80 MHR), immediately. The leukocytes IL-1β, TNF-α and IL-10 genes expression determined by the Real time-PCR technique. The quantitative expression of the cytokines gene was calculated using the 2-ΔΔ CT method. The between- groups differences in variables were determined by independent t-test (permutation test) through REST software and independent one-way ANOVA.
Results: The results showed that IL-1β, TNF-α mRNA genes expression reduced significantly after the concurrent training in both the training groups in comparison to the control group (P<0.05). In addition, the results also showed that IL-10 mRNA gene expression was not expressed in leukocytes after the concurrent training in both training groups in comparison to the control group (P>0.05).
Conclusion: In conclusion, the results suggest that the concurrent training modulate IL-1β and TNF-α mRNA genes expression significantly in diabetic women but could not change IL-10 genes expression. This type of exercise training seems to be more effective in reducing the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines than in enhancing anti-inflammatory cytokines.

Abstract

Background: Diabetes mellitus is one of the most common endocrine diseases. Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is one of the leading causes of death in patients with type 2 diabetes. The aim of this study was to investigate the metabolic profile of plasma amino acids in diabetic patients with cardiovascular disease.
Methods: The present study is a descriptive-analytical cross-sectional study on 140 patients including 35 patients with type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease (CVD.DM), 35 patients with type 2 diabetes and non-cardiovascular disease (DM). 35 non-diabetic patients with cardiovascular disease (CVD.nDM) and 35 non-diabetic patients with non-cardiovascular disease (HS) were referred to Diabetes Clinic No. 1 of Tehran University of Medical Sciences.
Results: 76 (54.3%) were male and 64 (45.7%) were female. The highest concentrations of glutamine and isoleucine were observed in DM.CVD, asparagine, serine, arginine, threonine, alanine, tyrosine, valine in DM.nCVD and methionine in CVD.nDM. The lowest concentrations of tyrosine and tryptophan in DM.CVD has been detected , and  methionine has been detected in DM.nCVD. The amino acids alanine, glutamine, tyrosine, valine, methionine, leucine, lysine and arginine significantly increased the chances of developing DM.nCVD. For each increase in Z-score per plasma concentration of isoleucine, the chances of developing cardiovascular disease without diabetes were significantly increased.
Conclusion: The amino acids alanine, glutamine, tyrosine, valine, methionine, leucine, lysine and arginine are involved in predicting the risk of DM.nCVD and isoleucine and methionine are involved in predicting the risk of CVD.nDM.

Abstract

Background: In many years, finding modern and appropriate treatments for diseases, especially chronic diseases (such as chronic metabolic diseases) have been one of the most important issues. On the other hand, limitations related to organ transplantation have made a serious need for advanced therapeutic strategies. In this respect, researchers have recognized the benefits of stem cells as a suitable tool. Accordingly, the application of stem cells for the treatment of various diseases has been considered in many countries around the world especially Iran.
Methods: A review of the history of stem cell studies in Iran and the world was conducted and the Cell Therapy and Reconstructive Medicine Research Center was introduced as one of the leading centers in this field and a review was conducted on the activities of this center.
Results: The history of studies related to cell-based therapy in Iran back to 1990. Subsequently, the Cell Therapy and Reconstructive Medicine Research Center, by providing services based on GMP principles, has provided clinical services in accordance with international standards and has conducted various researches in this field.
Conclusion: The purpose of the current review is to examine the strategies and challenges around the research and treatment opportunities using stem cells in mentioned center.

Abstract

Background: The objective of this experimental study was to determine the effect of 6 weeks of high intensity interval training (HIIT) on G6Pase expression in liver tissue, serum insulin and glucose and insulin resistance in obese rats with type 2 diabetic and compared with non-diabetic obese group.
Methods: 28 male Wistar rats aged 10 weeks (220 ± 10 g) were obesed by 6 weeks of high-fat diet (HFD). Then type 2 diabetes induced in 14 rats by intraperitoneal injection of STZ (30 mg/kg). Finally, the studied rats were divided into 4 same groups: 1) control obese, 2) interval obese, 3) control diabetic, 4) interval diabetic. Interval groups participated in an interval exercise program of 5 sessions per week for 6 weeks consists of 10 repetitions of a 40-second run on the treadmill with 2-minute rest (active rest) between repetitions. 48 hours after the lasting session, fasting levels of glucose, serum insulin and G6Pase expression in liver tissue in all 4 groups were measured and compared with 2 way ANOVA.
Results: Compared with diabetic control groups, HIIT in diabetic group resulted in significant decrease fasting glucose (p= 0.001). HIIT also led to an increase in serum insulin (p= 0.006) without change in G6Pase expression (p= 0.102) compared to the diabetic control group.
Conclusion: Improved glucose response to interval training in type 2 diabetic rats may be rooted in increase insulin without changes in hepatic G6Pase expression. Measurement of activity or expression of other liver enzymes is suggested for general conclusion.

Abstract

Background: In Iran, with the advancement of technology and the development of registration statistics, the need to use data mining methods has attracted more attention from researchers. Regression and classification tree is one of the important methods in Big data modeling, which has attracted the attention of many researchers for community control and prediction. The purpose of this study is to determine the influencing variables on the occurrence of complications caused by diabetes.
Methods: This paper is a cross sectional-analytical study. In this research, all diabetic patients covered by Mashhad University of Medical Sciences in 2017 were extracted from the SINA system. The number of diabetics with complications was 5016 and diabetics without complications were 53613. The method of fitting the regression tree model and classification and measurement criteria of the model is the coefficient of determination and the area of the Rock curve and the Lift diagram.
Results: The rock curve for the fitted tree model is 73.8%, which shows the relatively high power of the model. Based on the Lift chart, the decision-making power of diabetes complications increases 3.5 times for the person who comes to visit.
Conclusion: The results of the regression model and tree classification showed that, in descending order, age, risk assessment factor, FBS, HbA1C, total activity time, cholesterol, FBS and HDL, cardiovascular disease, history of stroke, blood pressure, cholesterol Statin prescription, job with hard physical activity, living area, consumed oil, walking, consumption of vegetables and gender are more effective than other factors in the occurrence of diabetes complications.

Abstract

Background: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of sports rehabilitation exercises with vitamin D consumption on fatigue, sleep quality and depression level of people with osteosarcoma cancer after bone marrow stem cell transplantation.
Methods: In this study, 27 women with osteosarcoma cancer with body mass index above 30 kg/m2, age 24.90±4.03 years, height 163.85±3.62 cm and weight 82.17±4.5 kg were randomly divided into four groups. (patient-exercise), (patient-exercise-vitamin D), (patient-exercise-placebo) and (control) were divided. The training protocol includes ten weeks of Pilates exercise. The supplement group took 500 IU of vitamin D three days a week for 10 weeks. Data were analyzed using dependent t-test and one-way analysis of variance.
Results: The results of the covariance analysis of the research of three exercise groups showed that after ten weeks of sports rehabilitation with vitamin D consumption, the indicators of fatigue and the level of depression decreased significantly (P≤ 0.05). Also, the results of covariance analysis of the three training groups showed that the overall sleep quality of people with osteosarcoma cancer increased significantly (P≤ 0.05). Conclusion: Based on the obtained results, it is suggested that the consumption of vitamin D along with exercise rehabilitation can be an effective treatment method for fatigue, sleep quality and depression in people with osteosarcoma cancer.
