Abstract

Backgrounds and Objectives:The aim of these research is examining the relation among noise psychological stubbornness and mental health with the life quality of rasht housewives.
Materials and Methods: After measuring the amount of noise in different streets , the researcher chose randomly 50 housewives from noisy streets of Rasht , and completed the study questionnaire. Then they analyzed data with peirson correlation and regression analysis.
Results:Theresultsshowedthat there is significant of perception of noise , psychological stubbornness and mental health with the quality of life. The amount of F parameter of regression analysis at P<0/01 level was significant and 91% of variance among noise with psychological stubbornness, mental health, with the quality of common life. Among the amount of noise, psychological stubbornness and mental health , the noise perception and mental health are able to making clear the quality of housewives&apos life it means that increasing the amount variance of psychological stubbornness to equation wouldn&apost lead to increase significantly.
Conclusion: paying attention to the effectiveness variables like noise and psychological like mental health on quality of life , Societies&apos development and achievement and decreasing social services, present study suggest that all responsible organizations who work about societies&apos health are trying to set their programs forward to promote the quality of the whole society life and do this by decreasin

Abstract

Background and Objectives: Solid waste municipal landfill can have injurious effect on society health, economic and environment. Therefore, spread evaluation in locating landfill is necessary to identifying the best places. The purpose of this paper is locating landfill for solid waste municipal for center of Alborz province.
Materials and Method: In this paper, suitable areas are identified for land filling solid waste municipal by weighted linear combination and cluster analysis in 20 years period. Thus, suitable areas were weighted by FAHP method. Those weights were used for ranking areas by DEA technique.
Result: Results showed among five landfill alternatives for solid waste municipal for center of Alborz province, alternative 1 is the best for land filling. This place is just 7 percent of total suitable places.
Conclusion: The approach are used in this article (combination method of fuzzy analytic hierarchy process & Data envelopment analysis) can be suitable for locating in other areas because when an option add or delete option ranking is not different with previous

Abstract

Background and Objectives: Assessing  human bioclimatic is foundation for many programs and plans, especially in the field of healthcare. In this study, human thermal comfort and its relationship with the incidence of diseases were investigated in Kurdistan province.

Materials and Method: The daily data of temperature, wind speed, relative humidity, and cloudiness between the years 1995-2014 were used. In the First step, Tmrt parameter was calculated in the Ray Man software environment. Then, UTCI index values were calculated using Bioklima software. In the final step, the climatic comfort zones were drawn in the ArcMap software.

Results: It was found that the UTCI values change from 20 to -23. Bijar and Zarrineh stations have the highest cold stress conditions. The calculated values showed that severe cold stress conditions prevail in most parts of the province almost throughout the year. The correlation coefficient values showed that the highest correlation with the height was observed in the cold months of the year (December- February). The results of UTCI zoning also showed that the central parts of the province consistent with the higher altitude areas had severe stress conditions.

Conclusion: The research showed that the province is faced with moderate to severe stresses in terms of human stress conditions. In the cold periods of the year, it will be more severe and more cold conditions are experienced in high places.

Abstract

Background and Objectives: Nowadays, indicators related to human physiology have special roles in human bioclimatic and environmental studies. One of these indices is Physiological Equivalent Temperature (PET). In the present study, trends of physiological equivalent temperature index over the past half century, which is the foundation of plans, especially in the field of health and environment, were evaluated in four climatic regions of Iran (Mashhad, Rasht, Esfahan, Tabriz and Bandar Abbas).

Material and methods: In this study, the data required to calculate the heat stress in the daily scale for 50 years during 1961-2010 were obtained from Iranian Meteorological Organization. Then, PET index at the daily scale was calculated and values greater than 35°C were identified for warm periods of the year. In the next step, the seasonal trends were analyzed by Mann-Kendall test.

Results: Changes in the frequency of days with heat stress in stations of Mashhad, Isfahan, and Tabriz have been rising during spring and summer. In other words, the greatest amount of positive change has occurred over the long-term average in these cities. The highest frequency of hot days was observed in Rasht and Bandar Abbas stations. The main reason for this subject has to do with how adjacent they were to the sea and the high rate of evaporation in such areas.

Conclusion: The 1980s-1990s have been allocated as the most days of hot stress. Upward trend of thermal stress occurring in the studied stations has increased the attention to the problem of heat stress and disease (thermal attack, fainting, muscle cramps) from the field of planning and management of the crisis.

Abstract

Background and Objective: Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) constitute a large class of organic compounds that are composed of two or more fused aromatic rings. Due to their potential mutagenic, carcinogenic and teratogenic effects on human health, PAHs have attracted particular concern. Therefore, in this study it was attempted to measure the PAHs concentration in the study area to evaluate the health risk.
Materials and Methods: 36 samples were taken from the central district in Bandar Abbas county to investigate the degree of contamination, sources and health risk  of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). Analysis of the samples was performed using gas chromatography.  خطای ترجمهAlso,  PMF Model was used to determine the possible sources.
Results: The total PAHs concentration had a mean value of 1.48 mg/kg in the soil samples. The total incremental life time cancer risk (ILCR) due to exposure to PAHs in soil is 1.06 × 106 for an adult and 4.95 × 106 for children. The results estimated for ILCR indicated that residents live in the central district of Bandar Abbas county are potentially exposed to cancer risk via both dust ingestion and dermal contact.
Conclusion: The ecological risk assessment of PAHs showed that the levels of all types of PAHs were lower than the lower value of effects range, except for dibenzo(a,h) antheracene and acenaphthene. The estimated results of ILCR indicated that Bandar Abbas county central district residents are potentially exposed to cancer risk via both ingestion and dermal contact. The PMF analysis identified four sources that were included fossil fuel combustion (14%), biomass combustion (13%), vehicular emissions (36%) and fossil fuel combustion/unburned petroleum (37%).

Abstract

Background and Objective: Chahnimeh water reservoirs in Sistan and Baluchestan Province are the most important sources for drinking water and irrigation purposes. Many factors such as precipitation, the geography of the watershed, atmosphere, geology and Human activities affect on the chemical, physical, and biological compositions of Chahnimeh water reservoirs. Therefore, the main goal of the present study was to monitor and assess water quality in four Chahnimeh reservoirs during two sampling periods.
Materials and Methods: 84 water samples were taken based on the standard methods (in September 2017 and April 2018) for measurement of the most important physicochemical parameters including major anions, total coliform, BOD, EC, TDS, pH and nitrate. Water quality index (WQI) was used to evaluate the overall water quality status in the Chahnimeh reservoirs.
Results:  The results of hydro-geochemical analysis indicated that the water type changed from sodic bicarbonate and sulfur dioxide to radicle chloride during sampling periods. The Gibbs chart showed that weathering of rocks mainly controlled the chemistry of the main water ions. The results of statistical analyses revealed that there was a high correlation between parameters such as chlorophyll, nitrate, sulfate and chlorine with water quality index. Water quality zoning results based on the WQI index indicated a decrease in the water quality of the wells by 3, 2, 1, and 4, respectively.
Conclusion: In this study, the use of WQI was helpful for fast data interpretation for drinking water purposes in the area. Based on the WQI classification, majority of the samples are falling under good to poor water category.

Abstract

Background and Objective: Heavy metals contamination, particularly in aquatic environments, is an important concern.  Since Mahbad river is the source for supplying drinking water to the city and the dam established on it is used for catching fish and sale in the market, heavy metals concentrations in the sediments of Mahabad River and the Dam, and the possible health risk of the fish consumption were investigated.
Materials and Methods: Sediment samples from 21 sites in Mahabad dam, and river, and 16 fish samples (Sander lucioperca and bramis brama species) were collected. After preparation, the samples were analyzed using ICP-MS method. For data analysis, enrichment factor (EF), potential ecological risk index (RI), health risk indices, principal component analysis (PCA) and Mann-Whitney test were used.
Results: The EF and RI values of the studied heavy metals in the sediments were low. The max concentrations of lead, zinc, copper, arsenic and manganese were 36, 162, 74, 22.8 and 3221 mg/kg, respectively. This was more obvious in the samples taken from the downstream of the dam. However, accumulation of the heavy metals in fish tissues resulted in high values for total hazard quotients (THQ), particularly for As (1.19); high hazard index (above 1); and high estimated daily intake (EDI) for copper (1.64) in the study area.
Conclusion: The results of this study revealed that the conditions for elements’ mobility and bioavailability was suitable in the river and Mahabad Dam. Therefore, assessing the mobility and bioavailability of the heavy metals in the sediments of the region, and measurement and continuous monitoring of the heavy metals concentrations in the water, sediment and fish of the study area are needed.

Abstract

Background and Objective: Microplastics (MPs) pollution are considered as a major growing global environmental problem in the past few decades. Dams could be an important reservoir for microplastics accumulation, therefore, in this study the presence of microplastics in sediments of Taleqan Dam and its upstream river was investigated in order to: 1) determine the local status of microplastic pollution and 2) determine the abundance and characteristics of the identified microplastics.
Materials and Methods: Sediment sampling was performed at 15 stations in the upstream of the river and the dam reservoir. After the sample preparation, separation method based on density difference was used for separation of the microplastics from the sediment, and stereo microscope and SEM-EDX were used for counting microplastics and investigation of their characteristics.
Results: Based on the results, maximum of the counted microplastic particles were observed in Taleqan City area with 2050 particles/300 g and minimum number was observed in the dam reservoir with 478 particles/300 g of sediment. The dominant shape, color, and size of the counted particles were polyhedral, colorless (transparent), and 100-250 μm, respectively.
Conclusion: The results showed that the concentration of microplastics in the stations near the urban and rural areas were higher due to the entry of sewage and the release of municipal solid wastes. Also, their concentrations were high in the stations close to the dock area of the dam due to the greater traffic of the locals and tourists and dumping of wastes in the shoreline of the lake.

Abstract

Background and Objective: Due to the importance of Mordab river, the concentration and distribution of heavy metals in sediments and part of Caspian sea coast, mostly affected by the Mordab river, were evaluated. Additionally, considering the possibility of heavy metals release from sediments to water column and transfer to crops, the health risk of rice consumption in the region was assessed.
Materials and Methods: 21 sediments samples and 4 rice samples from paddy fields along the Mordab River were collected. Heavy metal contents of the samples were measured using ICP-MS. Data analysis was performed using enrichment factor (EF), ecological risk index (RI), health risk index, principal component analysis (PCA) and Mann-Whitney test.
Results: The maximum concentrations of elements was higher in coastal sediments than the Mordab River. The results showed low to moderate risk of elements in most stations except for two coastal stations which exhibited considerable risk of contamination with regard to Cr. Principal component analysis categorized the elements into three components of different origin. Moreover, the estimation of weekly intake of elements through rice consumption were less than their permissible concentration set by World Health Organization.
Conclusion: The concentration of chromium in sediments, especially coastal sediments, is high, which may be partly due to the concentration of heavy minerals (chromium) in this fraction. Therefore, the origin of elements, particularly chromium, should be determined through sequential extraction methods. On the other hand, despite the pollution of river sediments and high consumption of rice among the residents of the study area, there is no danger to rice consumers in terms of heavy metals.

Abstract

Background and Objective: Water resources deficiency has caused the use of effluents to be considered as a source for re-use in the form of haloculture projects. An attempt has been made to investigate the possibility of using effluent produced by sugarcane production companies in the implementation of haloculture projects, from the viewpoint of the most used pesticides.
Materials and Methods: Ten water, four sediment, two plant, and two fish samples were analyzed using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) to determine the concentration of pesticides. In order to assess the ecological risk, toxic unit (TU) and risk quotient (RQ) were calculated.
Results: Glyphosate and Ametryn in all liquid, solid, and biological samples had concentrations below the detection limit. 2.4.D, Metribuzin, and Atrazine had detectable concentrations in the samples. However, their concentrations are lower than the standard values. Metribuzin and Atrazine had high concentrations in the stems and leaves of reeds in the region, which may indicate the role of these plants in the remediation of water and sediment from these compounds.
Conclusion: Using effluent from Amirkabir and Mirzakouchak Khan agro-industrial complexes to implement the haloculture project does not pose a particular problem from the viewpoint of contamination with the studied pesticides. This is confirmed due to the small concentrations of the studied compounds in the liver and below the detection limit in the muscles. However, it is necessary to carry out more studies to evaluate the quality of effluent in terms of the other types of pollution.
