Abstract

Divine religions have adopted various stances regarding cloning, and the Jewish faith has likewise examined the issue and investigated both its classifications. The present paper is a case study of the viewpoints of Jewish scholars on both reproductive and therapeutic cloning. The results showed that regarding therapeutic cloning, Jewish scholars believe in three different viewpoints: impermissiblity, permissibility and necessity, while they only believe in the first two regarding reproductive cloning, and they present reasoning for their views. This was a library research based on books and articles in Farsi and other languages as well as online sources.

Abstract

In this paper, the author aims to study orthodox and protestant points of views on human cloning and investigate on their arguments for and against it. Both ideologies have abolished both reproductive and therapeutic cloning and put forward an argument against them. The only liberal view which allows therapeutic cloning, but refrains from explicitly commenting on reproductive cloning, is a cult of protestant religion. It can be concluded that although reproductive human cloning can't be prohibited by account of their reasons, therapeutic cloning can be forbade by the reason of protecting the life right. This perspective shows that there is a fundamental consistency in Christianity's teaching about both kinds of cloning, because this religion prohibited all sorts of it.

Abstract

In the modern world, reproductive right is considered among the basic human rights in countries such as America and Britain. There has been growing interest in the subject and its various aspects including contraception and assisted reproductive technologies, which are giving rise to the ongoing debates. National and international legislators, governments and religions are striving to resolve the controversy among individuals and between individuals and governments and devise the perfect legislation that will cover all aspects of the subject and control all activities in this area.In the realm of bioethics and law, the issue is introduced as a right not duty, while in Christianity and Judaism it falls under the category of duty. In Islam, on the other hand, childbearing decision-making is left to the couple, which highlights the teachings of Islam regarding reproduction. In this paper, we attempted to offer a comparative study of four different points of view regarding the issue of reproductive rights

Abstract

In general, there are four types of policies in the world in relation to the issue of abortion, based on five basic approaches such as social, feminist, liberal, population-based, and religious-based. Each of these approaches provides a solution to the conflict between mother's rights and the right to life of the fetus, so based on the first three perspectives, abortion is permissible and based on the fourth view, it can be permissible or not and finally according to the religious view (Islam and Christianity) the abortion is forbidden. In the present paper, we tried to answer the main question by using the descriptive-analytical method, why in some of these approaches the right of the mother is preeminent, but in others, the right to life of the fetus proceeds? It seems that the way of Islamic legal system seems to be more logical, because in Western countries the rights of parents are always prioritized in the conflict between the rights of children and their parents. However, in the legal system of Islam, in addition to the moral orders, there are some principles that are anticipated to prevent the conflict of the rights of these two groups and the unequivocal predominance of one on another.
