Abstract
Community genetics is an applied research area that explores the role of genetic variables on the interactions and community structure determinism affecting species. Community genetics covers a spectrum from services, genetic and congenital disorders, genetic counseling, prevention and screening to macro policies. The focal point of community genetics is the society, and community-oriented physicians make priorities on medical genetics based on the specific characteristics of each society. The present study aimed to investigate the prioritization process of community genetics in the Iranian society.
According to previous studies, priorities of community genetics services in Iran can be evaluated from several aspects, including severity and type of illness, diagnosis, prevention and treatment, epidemiology, attitudes toward illness, and domestic, social, cultural, ethical and economical challenges. In order to promote community genetics activities, the above-mentioned priorities must be taken into consideration, while special attention should be paid to the four ethical principles of medical genetics, that is, autonomy, beneficence, non-maleficence, and justice.

Abstract
The ethical climate in hospitals is among the factors affecting health care providers’ moral development and the quality of care. This study aimed to explore nurses' perception of the ethical climate in health centers and certain related factors.
This was a cross-sectional study conducted on 168 nurses employed in one of the teaching hospitals affiliated with Shahed University. Data collection tools included a socio-demographic questionnaire and Olson's Hospital Ethical Climate Survey.
Most of the nurses (83.1%) in this study were female, and the mean age was 35.10 ± 9.42 years. From the nurses’ perspective, the highest score of ethical climate was related to managers (4.56 ± 1.04), and the lowest score pertained to the patients’ domain (2.87 ± 0.47). Moreover, no significant difference was observed in questionnaire domains according to demographic characteristics.
The results showed that the nurses in this study had a relatively positive outlook on the prevailing ethical climate in the hospital. It is recommended, however, that managers devise strategies based on the employees’ viewpoints in order to achieve the ideal ethical climate.

Abstract
Organizational spirituality is a modern topic of discussion in the field of organizational behavior. Iran compared to the world has more spirituality level so the responsibility of the management researchers for using this value tools to solve organizational problems has decreased. Providing peace of mind alongside comfort and convenience for hospital staff greatly affects their competence and will naturally influence the quality of service. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between spirituality and professional burnout among the hospital staff in Ardebil. This descriptive-analytical study was conducted on the staff of Ardebil hospitals (3 public hospitals, 1 private hospital and 1 veterans’ hospital) selected by sampling. Data were collected using the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) and a Spiritual Leadership Questionnaire. The reliability of the questionnaire was confirmed through Cronbach’s Alpha coefficient at 0.95. Finally, data were analyzed using the SPSS 20 software, t-test, ANOVA, Mann-Whitney and Kruskal-Wallis statistical tests.
The results showed the mean of spiritual leadership among the staff of public, private and veterans’ hospitals to be 3.51 out of a possible 5, indicating a good spiritual condition. Spearman’s Rho test results showed a significant negative relationship between spiritual leadership and professional burnout of the staff (P < 0.05). Moreover, professional burnout among the subjects was calculated at 43.2%, indicating a medium level.
In conclusion, spiritual leadership and its dimensions were found to be above average, thus indicating favorable conditions. Considering the importance of spiritual leadership and its relationship with burnout, managers should strengthen all dimensions of spiritual leadership in hospitals to create an environment without conflict and reduce burnout to improve efficiency.

Abstract
The increasing use of infertility treatments has given rise to the issue of filiation of the children conceived through such methods and created serious theoretical challenges. In this regard, it seems necessary to scrutinise the concept of filiation and understand its nature. The main question here would be whether filiation is a biological and natural concept, or a legal and normative one. The present study attempted to explain and criticize both the natural and normative outlooks, and it seems that strong arguments may be put forth in criticism of the former and in defence of the latter.
This study employed an explanatory/analytical method whereby the claims related to the issue were studied, explained, and analysed in a theoretical and philosophical manner. The results showed that with the recent developments in assisted reproductive technologies, the current outlook, which considers filiation to be a biological concept, might give rise to various theoretical as well as moral and legal problems that the biological theory cannot solve. It can be concluded that filiation, as it seems prima facie, is not a purely biological concept and may be established on normative and upbringing bases.

Abstract
Cryopreserved embryos are considered as abandoned embryos in two situations. The first situation is when the embryo`s owners have no definite domicile and no written guideline has been provided by the couple regarding the embryo`s status. The second one is when the owners of cryopreserved embryos explicitly state that they permit the freezing centers to decide about their embryos` fate. The aim of the present study was to determine the best possible decisions about cryopreserved embryos in case of their abandonment by couples.
This research was conducted through library and analytical research methods.
As the cryopreservation of embryos is expensive, cryopreservation centers must be exempted from preserving embryos after unsuccessful attempts at communication with the owners and passing of reasonable time.
Making decisions about the fate of abandoned cryopreserved embryos depends on the nature we attribute to them. If we consider abandoned cryopreserved embryos as humans, it is possible to destroy them according to the rule that necessities allow prohibitions. If we consider them as properties or quasi-properties, when there is no accessibility to their owners in order to determine their fate as properties, the governor is permitted to make decisions about their disposal or donation for researches.

Abstract
Traditional and complementary medicine centers, as providers of health services, have a special responsibility towards patients and clients. With increase in the number of these centers, the role of traditional and complementary medicine has become more important in the analysis, diagnosis, and treatment of illnesses. The accurate and fast performance of medical approaches using evidence-based diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, with consideration of the rights, integrity, and dignity of clients are among the priorities and necessities that can have a significant impact on the satisfaction and acceptance of the scientific and legal institutions, parallel to the deployment of new services provision systems. Lack of sufficient scientific evidence of efficiency and effectiveness, lack of definition and determination of authorities to handle complaints, the legal process of ethical and legal aspects of medical errors has caused challenges for the field of complementary and alternative medicine. Thus, this legal void must be filled through formulation and revision of laws and regulations, defining of the practical and acceptable set of scientific resources, and determination of authorized service centers to resolve complaints and to punish. It is hoped that the results of this review study increase the information of the professionals in this field and attract the attention of authorities of medical ethics to this field.

Abstract
Ethics of care are the central core of nursing values and a fundamental concept in the nursing profession. Since the outlook of nurses on ethics can affect the quality of care, the present study was conducted to investigate the attitude of nursing students to codes of ethics for nurses, their commitment to ethics of care, and academic dishonesty in Abadan School of Medical Sciences.
This descriptive analytical study was performed among 150 nursing students of Abadan School of Medical Sciences by census sampling in 2016. After giving their informed consent, the students completed the questionnaire designed by McCrink in 3 sections: 1) demographic information, 2) attitude to ethics codes, commitment to ethics of care and neutralization behaviors, and 3) outlook on academic dishonesty. Data were analyzed using descriptive statics, chi-square test and Pearson’s correlation coefficient in SPSS version 21.
The results showed that the students had the most positive attitude to ethics codes and commitment to ethics of care, and the most negative attitude to neutralization behaviors. Less than half of the participants had a negative outlook on academic dishonesty. Moreover, about 40 percent of the students reported academic dishonesty among their classmates. Ethics codes are moral values in academic and clinical settings and should therefore be considered as major components of initial nursing education programs. Additionally, it seems necessary to make efforts in order to change nursing students’ attitude toward academic dishonesty.

Abstract
Ethics is elemental in all lines of work, but more so in the nursing profession, since the ethical and responsible conduct of nurses can have an important role in promoting patient recovery. As members of a large group in the field of medical science, nurses need to be equipped with sound professional ethics in their interactions with others.
The present study was a descriptive survey of the relationship between professional ethics and the efficiency of nurses. Study population consisted of the nurses employed in Imam Hospital and Mostafa Khomeini Hospital in Ilam. Sample size was determined at 134 using the Cochran formula, and 126 completed the professional ethics and efficiency questionnaire. The validity of the questionnaire was confirmed by experts, and its reliability was established by Cronbach's alpha test. Subsequently, the main hypothesis and the eight sub-hypotheses were examined.
The subjects consisted of 89 males and 37 females, of which 50 percent were aged between 20 and 35, 42% between 36 and 50, and 6% between 51 and 60 years. In terms of education level, 7 subjects had high school diplomas, 18 associate degrees, 42 were undergraduate and 59 graduate students and higher. The findings showed a significant correlation (0.002) between professional ethics and the efficiency of nurses. Results of the Pearson’s correlation test confirmed the relationship between accountability, honesty, fairness, loyalty, respect for others, and the efficiency of the nurses employed in Imam and Mostafa Khomeini Hospitals, Ilam. No significant correlation was found, however, between the components of superiority and sympathy in nurses and their efficiency.
Considering the relationship between professional ethics and the efficiency of the nurses in these two hospitals, it is recommended to improve their performance through continuous training and promotion of nursing ethics.

Abstract
Errors in health care services may cause irreversible harm in some cases. Medical errors are a threat to the welfare and health of the patient and their family and should be prevented. The majority of medical errors have little impact on human health, but some of them cause huge losses. This report describes a case of laboratory error in amniocentesis during pregnancy in which uncertain test result caused anxiety and lots of concern for the family. Inappropriate approach to medical error causes more errors to happen. Studies have shown that appropriate reporting and shift from traditional to systematic approach are important factors in reducing the frequency of medical errors.

Abstract
Nursing is an ethical profession and nurses are responsible for patient care. In providing healthcare services, patient right is an important issue to consider. However, not only the awareness the patient right is important but also moral sensitivity to ethical decision-making is crucial. This study aimed to determine the relationship between moral sensibility and attitude towards patients' rights. A descriptive-analytic study was used and 194 nurses working in intensive care units in hospitals affiliated to medical university of South Khorasan province were selected by convenience sampling method. The data collected through a questionnaire consisting of three parts: 1) demographics 2) the moral sensitivity questionnaire (Korean version), and 3) a questionnaire survey of nurses' attitudes towards the patients’ rights. Data collected by the software SPSS version 16, and were analyzed descriptive and analytical statistical tests.
The results showed that there is a significant direct relationship between average moral sensibility and nurses' attitudes towards patients’ rights (r= 0.6, P=0.03). The average nurse's ethical sensitivity has been reported 3.05±0.68 0f the total score (0-4). The average attitude towards the patients’ rights was 4 ± 0.8 of the total score (1-5). The relationship between moral sensitivity whit the years of service and age of the participants was significant (P<0.05). There was also a significant relationship between the attitudes of nurses towards patients' rights with gender and years of service (P<0.05). In conclusion it is necessary to provide more moral education to increase nurse’s moral sensitivity towards patients’ rights. It should be noted that due to the fact that moral sensitivity and attitude towards patients' rights increases with the number of years of service the article suggests that considering more experienced nurses in the teams would result a more morally sensitive care for the patients.

Abstract
Modern medical ethics, in particular the principle of Non-Maleficent, advises the medical staff to avoid any harm to the patient. Islamic jurists, using religious texts and sources, have introduced rules that are applicable in many areas of life. Among these rules, is the rule Non-Harm, that in this article to review this rule and its applications in medicine. In addition to discussions of the documents, a better understanding of the words "Darar" and "Dirar" and deny or forbid the word "La" at the beginning of the base document, is one of the major issues and disputes. Organ transplants, family planning and birth control, responsibility to protect the health, need to see a doctor for treatment, civil responsibility for doctors in the treatment, responsibility for custodians of society for the control of AIDS, are the problems affecting today's health systems that the rule of No Harm is flowing in them.

Abstract
Writing treatise on Islah al-Adwiat (Reducing the Side-Effects of Drugs) is one of the most important issues in Islamic medicine. During the first few centuries of Islamic civilization, four important treatises were written on this subject, which established the scientific tradition that formed the bases of the subsequent pharmacological formation. This paper addresses the tradition of writing books on reducing the side-effects of purgatives and it also critically edits and translates the books written by three prominent scholars – Hubaysh b. Atham of Damascus, Qusta b. Luqa of Balbak and Muhammad Zakaria Razi – relying on the surviving manuscripts. The research objective followed by this paper is examining and analyzing the purgatives as an important class in the pharmacological and medical books of the Islamic era.
Almost all books on medicine and pharmacology written in the old medical tradition have a section or a chapter devoted to the detailed introduction of purgatives and counteracting their side effects. Examining these bits, one may trace the main structure of the tradition, which continued for many centuries. Besides, comparing them may provide an appropriate perspective to look at the history of pharmacology. To this end, images of the material included in those books were obtained from libraries and museums, which have housed such books for almost a millennium. Then they were analyzed along with translating and editing.
It may be concluded that pharmacologists belonging to the old medical paradigm would use drugs to treat conditions of bad health caused by changes in the patient’s humors; the drugs, however, would cause some side-effects along with removing humors and residues, leading to a change in the main humor of the body. The pharmacologists; therefore, introduced the drugs, their harms, as well as the best type of the drug to be used and finally suggested some methods in detail to reduce their side effects

Abstract
Stressful ethical situations are considered as one of the problems of nursing profession, which disrupts the competence of simultaneous application of knowledge, skills, attitudes, and values in patient care. Since clinical nurses are more exposed to ethical distress due to their nature of job, especially in in critical care and psychiatric wards, this study was conducted to analyze the relationship between three dimensions of moral distress. In this descriptive-correlational study 545 nurses from Tabriz educational centers were selected by census method in 2013-2014. The moral distress scale (MDS) questionnaire was distributed among partcipants and data was collected during nine months. Data were analyzed by SPSS V13, descriptive statistics, Chi-square test, and Kendall's tau-b correlation coefficient. According to the findings, the mean of moral distress was 141.89 ± 29.6 (in the intermediate range). Chi-square test showed the relationship between the dimensions of moral distress (the relation between patient's ignorance, decision-making power, and professional competence) (P <0.05). According to the Kendall's tau-b correlation coefficient test, there was a direct and significant correlation between the dimensions of moral distress (P <0.05). There was a meaningful correlation between the moral distress and the demographic characteristic of the educational level (P <0.05). Considering the direct and meaningful relationship between three dimensions of moral distress (patient's ignorance, decision-making power, and professional competence), each dimension of moral distress affects another as aggravating or modifying factor. Therefore, it is recommended that planners and health care administrators at the macro level provide appropriate programs to increase the nurse's attention and support to patients and reinforce decision-making power and professional competence by increasing the number of nurses and other controlling programs.

Abstract
Moral sensitivity is one of the most important factors in improving the quality of nursing cares and nurses' performance. This research aimed to determine the relationship between moral sensitivity and self- efficacy in operating room nurses affiliated to educational- therapeutic centers in Ardabil University of medical sciences. This descriptive-correlation study was carried out on a sample of 144 nurses of operating room by census method in 2017. Data were collected by using moral sensitivity standard questionnaire and clinical performance self- efficacy. Data were analyzed using statistical tests: Pearson correlation coefficient, independent t- test and one way ANOVA by SPSS15 software. The mean of nurses' age was 30±6.07 years old. The majority of nurses were female (%54) and majority of them were in operating room discipline (%59). The mean and standard deviation of moral sensitivity score was 87±11.00 and the total self-efficacy was 129±13.00. Pearson correlation coefficient showed a significant statistical correlation between self-efficacy score and moral sensitivity of nurses (P<0.0001, r=0.882). The results of this study showed that moral sensitivity and self-efficiency of operating room nurses is high. Furthermore, it seems that high moral sensitivity increases self-efficacy. However, moral sensitivity and self-efficacy of nurses can be improved by holding ethical and professional workshops.

Abstract
A 62-year-old man referred to the emergency department 48 hours ago with chief complaint of repeated bloody vomiting. The patient is admitted and the necessary measures are taken. Within 24 hours, he received 6 units of blood. The patient has undergone endoscopy, but endoscopic endorsement has failed to stop the bleeding. The surgeon consulted and visited the patient. He considered urgent emergency laparotomy. The patient is alert and refuses surgery. The hemodynamic status of the patient is not stable and gastrointestinal bleeding continues. These questions are posed to medical staff and hospital managers: "What is our duty”? "Should we respect the choice of the patient and witness the progress of the disease and deterioration of the patient's condition"? "Can he be discharged from the hospital on the basis of the patient's refusal to take medical treatment"? "Can we take appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic measures with the use of legal capacity and support despite patient’s opposition? "How can one regard autonomy, beneficence, and nonmaleficence at the same time, in this situation "? In this study, which is one of the problems of medical ethics, the ethical, legal, and health aspects of the presented patient are discussed.
