Abstract
Background & Objectives: Sleep quality is an important factor in student life
and affects in their learning process. Sleep problems are related to increased
health concerns, irritability, depression, fatigue, attention and concentration
difficulties, along with poor academic performance. The aim of this paper is to
conduct a survey based on a questionnaire that would characterize the quality
of sleep in students living in dormitories of Tehran University of
Medical Sciences (TUMS).
Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study using the stratified random
sampling approach on 277 students residing in dormitories in Tehran. A
demographic questionnaire and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) were used
for data collection.
Results: Mean (CI) of PSQI in students was 8.57 (8.10- 9.04). Using
the cut-off score of 6 for the PSQI global score, 73.3% (68.1%-78.5%) of
students were described as poor sleeper. Female students had a worse quality of
sleep compared to male. The mean duration of sleep in students was 5:15´± 105´
(hours). This was significantly higher in male students than female students.
There were no significant relationships between demographic variables such as
age, academic level, marital status and family income with and quality of
sleep.
Conclusion: This study showed that poor sleep quality is prevalent
among students living in dormitories of TUMS. Therefore it is necessary to
provide effective educational interventions for this group in order to improve
the quality of sleep.

Abstract
Background & Objectives: The effects of air pollutants on respiratory mortality and morbidity are among the major concerns today. Few studies have been published on the association between mortality and air pollution in Iran.
Methods: This study was undertaken in Kerman, Iran. Mortality data was inquired from the Kerman City Health Authority (from March 2006 till Sept 2010) and air pollution data was requested from the Kerman Province Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The Kerman Province EPA collects daily data on 7 air pollutants which are SO2, NO2, NO, NOx, PM10, CO and O3 by its urban measurement station.
Results: The relation between respiratory disease mortality and air pollution was determined by negative binomial regression. The daily mean of PM10 in Kerman was above 150 μgr/m³(unhealthy) on some days of the year. The results showed a significant relationship between increased male respiratory mortality and increase in ambient dust (p=0.03), O3 (p=0.004) and SO2 (p=0.03), but did not show a significant increase in female mortality death for any pollutant.
Conclusion: As there seems to be a significant relationship between increased ambient dust, O3, SO2 and respiratory mortality, susceptible people and those with background respiratory diseases should practice caution in case of increases in these air pollutants.

Abstract
Background and Objectives : The aim of this study was to assess the disease trajectory and recurrence rate of pemphigus based on the analysis of the gap time between successive recurrent events. In this regard, the most important associated factors with the risk of recurrence could be explained.
Methods: This longitudinal study was performed on 112 pemphigus patients who attended the dermatology department of Imam Khomeini Hospital, Tehran, Iran, from March 2006 to January 2013. The study duration was considered from the diagnosis of the disease to December 2013. Recurrent events were analyzed based on the gap time between successive events using the multivariate time dependent frailty model. The time between two recurrent gap times was determined monthly between two successive events.
Results : Decreasing the gap times between two successive events indicates that the subsequent event after the first recurrence occurs with shorter time intervals. So, the disease trajectory represents an increase in the recurrence rate over time. Based on the results of multivariate frailty model, IgG antibody's level was the only effective factor on the recurrence hazard rate of the patients. Also, this model proved that the frailty effects were time dependent frailties.
Conclusion: Assessing the disease trajectory and recurrence hazard rate can be achieved through analyzing the gap time between successive recurrent events. This analysis also identifies the factors that influence the risk of subsequent recurrent events.

Abstract
Background and Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the status of HSE indices in a number of organizations affiliated with Tehran Municipality.
Methods: In this cross-sectional study, the study population included all organizations affiliated with Tehran Municipality HSE performance was assessed through an 18-item checklist. The content validity of this checklist was examined by obtaining the opinions of experts in the field. The data of this study were analyzed using the SPSS software version 22.
Results: The results of this study showed that three organizations, namely Suburbs Bus Company, Urban Planning Organization, and Terminals and Parks Organization had the best HSE performance with indexes of 63.6%, 57.485 and 52.59%, respectively. Among the 18 items of HSE performance, the HSE policy had the highest score (68.6%).
Conclusion: Based on the findings of this study, the value of the HSE index was not complete in any of the fields. The results of this study showed that although the foundation of the HSE system was implemented in many units of Tehran Municipality, it is still a long way before the desired point is reached. Therefore, it is necessary to formulate and implement appropriate action plans and to evaluate the effectiveness of control measures to improve the HSE indicators.
