Abstract

Background & Objectives: To be able to measure the extent of job stress, it is essential to use a standardized tool based on a standard theoretical model. The study aims to test the psychometric properties and criterion validity of the Farsi version of the Effort Reward Imbalance (F-ERI) questionnaire.
Methods: The Farsi version of the ERI Questionnaire was distributed to 227 male employees in Isfahan Polyacryle Company. Internal consistency, reliability, discriminative validity, and factorial structure were evaluated. The relationship between scales and depression was measured assessed by using logistic regression to criterion validity. Data were analysed by SPSS 18 and LIZREL 8.5.
Results: Mean score of effort, reward, and overcommitment were 10.7, 41.4, and 14.2 respectively Cronbach’s alpha coefficients were 0.61, 0.85 and 0.67 and split-half coefficients were 0.53, 0.85, and 0.65. All of item-total correlations were more than 0.20 correlation between each item and its scale were more than 0.4 except for one item. Effort and overcommitement had a good fit for construct validity.
Conclusion: Current study results indicated the Farsiversion of the Effort Reward Imbalance (F-ERI) questionnaire is a reliable and valid tool to measure psychosocial stress at work among Farsi-speaking employees. It is advisable to evaluate the tool in longitudinal studies and other industries which included female employees. We refer the investigators to see the longitudinal results of current project which is under publication.

Abstract

Background and Objectives: Food is one of the major needs of the humans that is defined in the context of food security. The objective of this study was to find the relationship between food insecurity and stunting combined with obesity and overweight in children aged 7-11 years old in Zabol.

Methods: This study had two phases. In the first phase (cross-sectional), 3443 students aged 7-11 years old were selected with stratified – cluster sampling. In the second phase, all of the children with stunting and obesity or overweight based on the CDC growth chart comprised the case group and 112 students with normal height and weight based on the CDC growth chart comprised the control group. The case and control groups were matched in terms of age, sex, and school. The food security USDA questionnaire that consists of 18 items was completed through interview with mothers to evaluate the family food security.

Results: The prevalence of stunting, obesity, and overweight was 17.95%, 4.56%, and 10.98% respectively and the prevalence of stunting combined with obesity and overweight was 1.71% in the first phase of the study. There was a significant relationship between food insecurity and stunting combined with obesity and overweight. Food insecurity had a significant relationship with low economic status, living in rented homes, labor job and unemployment of the household head, and low education level of the household head in the case group.

Conclusion: Because of the significant relationship between food insecurity and stunting combined with obesity and overweight, it is necessary to design interventional programs to prevent or reduce food insecurity.

Abstract

Background and Objectives: Due to the importance of cutaneous leishmaniasis, the national leishmaniasis project began in 2007 in Iran. The aim of the present study was to evaluate community interventions in changes in the incidence of cutaneous leishmaniasis in Isfahan Province from 2002 to 2018: an Interrupted time series regression analysis.

Materials and Methods: The present study was a repeated cross-sectional study. The incidence and 95% confidence interval were used to describe the disease trend. Data were entered into the Excel and analyzed using STATA14 software at a significance level of 5%. Intermittent time series regression analysis was used to evaluate community interventions in changes of leishmaniasis incidence.

Results: from 2002 to 2018, the data of 43,904 patients with leishmaniasis was registered in Isfahan Health Centers. The mean (standard deviation) age of the patients was 23.99 (19.03) years. The incidence had a decreasing trend after the interventions in all affiliated cities and the whole province.

Conclusion: The preventive intervention programs of the provincial health center have been rather successful and have reduced the incidence of the disease in the years after the intervention, so that despite the large number of confounding and influential factors regarding this disease, preventive intervention programs have led to disease control according to the reported annual incidence.
