Abstract
Background and Aim: Diabetic neuropathy occurs in about 50% of individuals with long-standing type 1 and type 2 diabetes mellitus. The aim of the study was to detect sensory neuropathy in diabetic patients at risk for foot ulceration, using monofilament and neuropathic symptoms in Diabetes clinic of Kashan University of Medical Sciences from 2008 to 2010.
Methods: Three-hundred and fifty-two diabetic patients were enrolled in this cross-sectional study. Firstly patients were surveyed with a questionnaire concerning their subjective symptoms. The neuropathic symptoms were assessed using a quantitative neuropathy symptom score. Then the patients were examined by 5.07/10g monofilament. Data description and analysis were performed by reporting mean ± standard deviations, proportions, odds ratios (OR) and 95% confidence interval (95% CI) and conducting chi square and kappa tests.
Results: 15.6% of patients had sensory neuropathy using monofilament test. 19.4% of men and 14.3% of women had neuropathy (OR=1.4, P=0.24). The mean duration of diabetes in patients with neuropathy was longer than patients without neuropathy (9.96 vs 9.68 year, P>0.05). 72.7% of patients with history of foot ulcer had neuropathy (OR=16.6, P<0.001). According to neuropathic symptoms 17.6% of patients had no neuropathy, 12.8% had mild neuropathy, 41.8% had moderate neuropathy and 27.8% had severe neuropathy.
Conclusion: Screening with monofilament test is necessary for all diabetic patients to prevent diabetic foot ulcer development, without considering neuropathic symptom

Abstract
Background and Aim: Pityriasis versicolor (PV) is a fungal infection of the skin that is caused by Malassezia species in tropical and subtropical areas. Various treatments such as ketoconazole 2% shampoo are effective in the treatment of PV. In this study, the therapeutic effects of ketoconazole 2% shampoo and Octopirox 1% shampoo on PV were compared.
Methods: Fourty-two patients participated in the study. Twenty-five patients were treated using Octopirox 1% shampoo and 17 patients were treated by ketoconazole 2% shampoo. Each shampoo was administered for 5 minutes after daily showers for three weeks. At the end of the treatment period, patients were evaluated on the basis of the results KOH test and clinical examinations.
Results: At the end of the treatment period in ketoconazole 2% shampoo group, 64.7% of patients were cured. In Octopirox 1% shampoo group, 44% of patients were cured. The detected difference was not statistically significant (P=0.187).
Conclusion: Both shampoos were effective in eliminating the symptoms, but ketoconazole 2% shampoo was more effective in improving the associated hyperpigmentation and erythema than Octopirox 2% shampoo. No side effects were observed in either group.

Abstract
Postsurgical scars are of significant concern to both the patients and surgeons. Different laser systems have been used to accelerate and improve the healing process in surgical scars. Some studies have demonstrated the benefits of prophylactic laser application on pre-scars. It seems that using laser energy in the early phase of the healing process may produce changes in the physiology of wound healing toward a more fetal-like tissue regeneration and healing. Laser-Assisted Skin Healing (LASH) is a new approach in which laser irradiation is applied immediately after surgery in order to improve the resulting surgical scars. LASH produces controlled homogenous heating throughout the full thickness of the skin around the wound which accelerates wound healing without thermal damage to the tissue.
The purpose of this paper is to provide an overview of the available peer-reviewed research literature on the application of LASH, the in-vitro, animal and human studies and the suggested mechanisms of action. Further studies are necessary to optimize the best laser parameters especially according to different skin phototypes and better understanding of the mechanisms of action.

Abstract
Probiotics are living microorganisms that, when used adequately, have beneficial effects on the host, and their superiority is that they are safe and secure for the host. The use of probiotics in addition to the digestive tract, has been studied in immune function, skin diseases, diabetes, cancer, liver disease, hypertension, urogenital system and oral cavity. In general, probiotics seem to be a promising and safe treatment. Nevertheless, more extensive studies are needed to use probiotics as alternative treatments along with old treatments. In dermatology, there is also a widespread use of probiotics and prebiotics. The use of probiotics has been studied in the treatment of atopic dermatitis, acne, eczema, allergic diseases, skin aging, bacterial and fungal infections, chronic wound healing, including diabetic foot ulcers, with promising results. In this review, papers related to the use of probiotics in the treatment of skin diseases were searched in data bases of Pubmed, Google scholar and Medline. Relevant papers were selected and presented. It is expected that probiotics will be used as complimentary treatment in several skin disorders.

Abstract
Over the past two decades, nanotechnology has played a pivotal role in transforming the cosmetic and personal care industry, establishing itself as one of the most revolutionary achievements in materials science. The reduction of particle size to the nanometer scale, by increasing the specific surface area and enhancing physicochemical properties, has enabled improved skin penetration, increased stability of active compounds, and facilitated the targeted release of active ingredients, leading to the production of products with higher efficacy. However, concurrent with the expansion of this technology, concerns regarding the biosafety, potential toxicity, and environmental consequences of nanoparticles have been raised, highlighting the necessity for rigorous evaluation. Therefore, this article aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of the advantages, limitations, and safety considerations associated with the application of nanotechnology in the cosmetic and personal care industry. In this analytical review, articles and sources published in reputable scientific databases between 2015 and 2025 were evaluated and analyzed. The results indicated that the utilization of nanostructures such as nanoliposomes, nanoemulsions, metallic nanoparticles, and lipid nanoparticles in the formulation of cosmetic products, while optimizing performance and increasing bioavailability, has created significant potential for innovation in this industry. Conversely, evidence has been reported regarding the induction of oxidative stress, inflammatory responses, and regulatory challenges in the context of long-term risk assessment. The application of nanotechnology in the cosmetic and personal care industry holds substantial innovative capacity and high added value; nevertheless, ensuring consumer safety necessitates long-term toxicological studies and the development of clear regulatory frameworks. Establishing a balance between industrial innovation and public health considerations is a fundamental condition for the sustainable development of this technology.
