Abstract
Background and Aims: Improper feeding is one of the most important etiologic factors in early childhood caries (ECC). In some clinical trials, breast feeding (BF) is mentioned as a causing factor in ECC. Results in this topic are different or even controversial. It is vital that all general advices given out are consistent with general health education messages. The aim of this study was to conduct a systematic review on the relationship between breast feeding and early childhood caries.
Materials and Methods: Articles, guidelines, related books, and specific databases such as SID, PubMed, Scirus, Elsevier, American Association of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD), American Association of Pediatrics (AAP) and American Dental Association (ADA) were searched for related topics cited since 1990. Early childhood caries definition, breast feeding and other variables such as sample size, study location and study design were analyzed.
Results: According to data analysis, there was a lack of methodological consistency and inconsistent definitions of ECC and BF in the literature making it difficult to draw conclusions. Results about relationship between prolonged BF and ECC were inconclusive. There was a positive relationship between nocturnal BF and ECC. A history of BF did not have any effect on the caries incidence.
Conclusion: Because of the role of breast feeding in children's health, it is important to inform the parents about the possibility of dental caries due to nocturnal breast feeding.

Abstract
Background and Aims: The exfoliated human deciduous tooth contains multipotent stem cells [Stem Cell from Human Exfoliated Deciduous tooth (SHED)] that identified to be a population of highly proliferative and clonogenic. These cells are capable of differentiating into a variety of cell types including osteoblast/osteocyte, adiopcyte, chondrocyte and neural cell. The aim of this study was to evaluate the differentiation of SHED to osteoblast in standard osteogenic medium and comparing the results with medium which supplemented with glucosamine in form of chitosan.
Materials and Methods: Dental pulp cells were isolated from freshly extracted primary teeth, digested with 4 mg/ml collogenase/dispase, and grown in Dulbecco's modified Eagle's medium with 10 percent fetal bovine serum. The clonogenic potential of cells was performed after 3 weeks of culture. Flowcytometric analysis, performed at day 21 of culture to identify surface markers of mesenchymal stem cells. The cells from 3rd passage were used for osteogenic differentiation in routine osteoinductive medium. Chitosan (10 μg/ml) was added to the culture medium of case group. Alizarin Red Staining and Alkaline Phosphatase (ALP) activity were done to evaluate osteogenic differentiation in the developing adherent layer on the third passage. The results were analyzed using T-test. For the analysis of normal distribution of data, non-parametric Kolmogrov-Smirnov test was used.
Results: The colonogenic efficiency was more than 80%. Flowcytometric analysis showed that the expression of mesenchymal stem cell marker CD90, CD105 and CD146 were positive in SHED, while hematopoietic cell marker CD34, CD45 and endothelial cell marker CD31 were negative. Quantitative analysis of Alizarin Red Staining demonstrated that: mineralized nodule formation was higher in the group supplemented with glucosamine (chitosan). Results from Alkaline Phosphatase activity test, on day 21, demonstrated a significantly higher ALP activity in the group supplemented chitosan (P<0.001).
Conclusion: Stem cells isolated and cultured from exfoliated deciduous teeth pulp can be differentiated to osteoblast. Addition of chitosan can be beneficial to promote osteogenic differentiation of these cells.

Abstract
Background and Aims: The purpose of the present study was to review the studies regarding serological and salivary oxidant / antioxidant status in patients with recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS).
Materials and Methods: The literature was searched using key words RAS, Antioxidants, Saliva, Hematinic (s) and Hematinic Acid in the last 10 years, particularly the recent 3 years (2010-2013). At total of 37 clinical trials, 18 case-control articles were selected and evaluated fulfilling the requirements as the RAS patients having at least 3 oral aphthous attack per year. The exclusion criteria included systemic as well as periodontal diseases, iron deficiency associated anemia, medication usage and smoking.
Conclusion: Almost all lipid-peroxidation studies in serum and saliva were manifested by an increase of malondialdehyde (MDA) concentration in RAS patients compared with controls. This would indicate the role of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the etiology of the disease. Serum trace elements (Zn, Se) were reduced and Cu was increased in RAS patients in comparison with control individuals. A decreased serum superoxide dismutase (SOD) and an increased salivary SOD were observed in all RAS patients. Catalase (CAT) and uric acid (UA) analyses were non-inclusive. Levels of paraoxonase and arylesterase as well as antioxidant vitamins (A, E, C) were lower in RAS patients than that of controls.

Abstract
Aesthetic and smile design is one of the most important motivations for going to dentists and one of the most of researchers’ attention. The most important aspect of the remedy is to diagnose, especially when aesthetic is concerned and dentist should interfere the patient actively in the treatment planning. It means dentist must know what is aesthetic in patient points of view. One way to achieve this goal is digital imaging, patients images taken by digital intra oral cameras transfer to the computer and some changes done on their primary images and define all possible looks and at the end, all these looks must be shown to the patient by dentist and decide for the true remedy plan. This article introduced the software, which has prepared this aim that is easy to use and has no expense.

Abstract
Background and Aims: Dental erosion refers to the loss of tooth structure by being scratched chemically without bacterial involvement which needs to care about due to its prevalence and treatment problems. This study was designed with the aim of evaluation of the frequency of dental erosion and its causing factors in patients referring to yazd dental school in 2012-2013.
Materials and Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 400 patients referring to yazd dental school were randomly selected. All of their teeth were evaluated in three surfaces (buccal, lingual and occlusal). The BEWE score was used for classification the extent of damages. Also, patients were given a questionnaire that included patient demographic information and questions to investigate the causes of dental erosion. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 17 and Mann-Whiney, Fisher exact, and Chi-square tests.
Results: In this study, 138 men and 261 women were participated with the mean age of 33.26±10.83. 84 persons (21.1%) had erosion. There was a direct and significant relationship between the dental erosion and patient's age (P >0.001). Also, there was a direct relationship between the dental erosion and reflux and consumption of lemon and pickle, beverages, soft beer and juice (P>0.001).
Conclusion: Consumption of lemon and pickle, beverages, soft beer and juice increases the risk of erosion. Considering the prevalence of dental erosion in about 21% of patients, it is necessary to pay more attention to the knowledge of the causes of erosion and reduction strategies of it.

Abstract
Background and Aims: Central odontogenic fibroma is a rare odontogenic neoplasm that originates from odontogenic ectomesenchyme. Most cases occur in the mandible and between the ages of 11 and 39 years. The neoplasm shows a definite female preponderance, with a ratio of 2.2:1 and has a very low recurrence rate. The aim of this article was to report a case of this rare lesion which was accidentaly found.
Case Report: A 11-year-old female, during her orthodontic treatment and without any complain and any sign or symptoms, performed a panoramic image for assessing the permanent teeth buds. In the panoramic view a unilocular radiolucent lesion with well-defined and corticated borders in the right mandibular body region was evident. The lesion was treated with simple excision. Simple type of central odontogenic fibroma histopathologic features was observed in the microscopic view.
Conclusion: Although the central odontogenic fibroma is a rare benign neoplasm, however, a careful evaluation of radiographic images is important for early detection of lesions because the patient may have no clinical symptoms such as swelling, pain and paresthesia.

Abstract
Background and Aims: While there are a lot of information about an illness risk factors, there are still some gaps in understanding factors influencing the progression of disease. Given the important role of psychological factors in physical conditions, the purpose of this study was to compare the cognitive emotion regulation, stress, depression, anxiety, and stress related to life events in people with and without periodontal disease.
Materials and Methods: The type of this study was causal comparative. Research society was all clients referred to dental clinics in Lamerd and Mehr cities, then 50 people with and 50 people without periodontal disease (male and female, 15-49 years old) were selected using purposive sampling. The group without periodontal disease was matched with patient group in terms of demographic characteristics. Both groups completed cognitive emotion regulation questionnaire (CERQ), Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS), and life events questionnaire. Data analysis was conducted with SPSS version 17 using multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA).
Resultes: Data analysis showed that people with periodontal disease had more stress, depression, anxiety, and stress related to life events than matched control group. The groups had significant differences in the components of self-blame, rumination, positive attention to evaluation and catastrophizing (P<0.05). People with periodontal disease had higher scores in self-blame, rumination and catastrophizing and lower scores in positive attention to evaluating compared with matched control group.
Conclusion: The results showed people who were vulnerable to stressfull situations, depression, and anxiety during their lives, and also use maladaptive emotion regulation strategies, were more susceptible to periodontal disease.

Abstract
Background and Aims: Erosion is the chemical dissolution of a tooth by acid without bacterial involvement. The purpose of the current study was to investigate the effect of resin infiltration (Icon), MI paste plus, and Nd:YAG laser on the enamel microhardness.
Materials and Methods: 40 enamel samples were obtained from the third molar tooth. Primary microhardness was measured in all specimens. Then, erosion was created using hydrochloride acid on the surfaces of enamel and the microhardness values were measured. The samples were randomly divided into four groups. G1: MI paste plus, G2: MI paste plus+ Nd:YA laser, G3: ICON without etching, G4: ICON with etching. Erosion was induced again by hydrochloric acid and then subjected to thermocycling. Finally, the microhardness of the samples was measured. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS23 software, one-way ANOVA, multiple Tukey and T-test comparisons. P<0.05 was considered as a significant level.
Results: The microhardness increased in the third stage compared to the second stage in all groups, which was statistically significant (P<0.000). Also, the comparison of the increase of microhardness among groups, except second group with the fourth group, was statistically significant.
Conclusion: All the materials used in this study significantly increased the microhardness of the eroded enamel.
