Abstract
One of the most common outcomes of pulp inflammation is periapical granuloma formation. Existence of immune cells in these lesions showed involvement of both humoral and cellular immunity in the site. The presence of different antigens in the root canal causes production o various antibodies and consequent immunological reactions. Different theories have been proposed on periapical cysts. The most valid of them is based onimmunologic response which can lead to tissue destruction due to immunological reactions.

Abstract
Benign mesenchymoma is a soft tissue neoplasm that contains 2 or more mature mesenchymal tissues in addition to fibrous tissue. A rare case of gingival benign mesenchymoma in a 53- year- old man is presented and the clinicopathologic characteristics of this uncommon tumor in the head and neck region is reviewed and discussed.

Abstract
Statement of Problem: According to many researches done in the field of occupational disorders dentists are considered at the risk of musculoskeletal problems. These problems may cause reduction of job length of dentists.
Purpose: This study was done for evaluating the musculoskeletal disorders of dentists, practicing in Yazd.
Materials and Methods: This is a descriptive cross-sectional study, conveyed in Yazd city in 1999 by survey among all of working dentists with eye-to-eye contact questionnaire reply.
Results: Among dentists were interviewed 81.6% of respondents mentioned at least one of musculoskeletal problems. The mentioned disorders were respectively Neck (47.1%) hand (36.2%), wrist (34.8%), upper and lower parts of back (33.3%), shoulder (11.59%), knee (2.8%). About 72.5% of the individuals had no familial history and just 4.5% had these disorders before working as a dentist.
Conclusion: Results of this study revealed that majority of musculoskeletal disorders had significant relationship with age, gender, work place, working hours, level of exercise, direct vision and duration of the job of dental occupation.

Abstract
Statement of Problem: Hyperlipidemia is a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease. In recent years some evidence has been presented regarding the association between periodontal and cardiovascular diseases.
Purpose: The aim of this study was the evaluation of association between hyperlipidemia and periodontitis.
Materials and Methods: In this case-control study, levels of plasma lipids in 40 subjects with periodontitis (CPITN score III or IV) were measured and compared with 40 age and sex matched controls. Data were analyzed using t-student test with P<0.05 as the limit of significance.
Results: Total cholesterol (CHL) and triglyceride (TG) were significantly higher in case group compared with control group. (P=0.045 and P=0.016 respectively). HDL and LDL cholesterols were higher in cases but showed no significant differences with controls. The relative frequency of pathologic values of CHL and TG were significantly greater in cases compared with control group (P=0.005 and P=0.001 respectively).
Conclusion: Based on the findings of this study, hyperlipidemia may be associated with periodontitis in medically healthy peoples but whether periodontitis causes an increase in levels of serum lipids or whether hyperlipidemia is a risk factor for both periodontitis and cardiovascular disease need to be further investigated.

Abstract
Background and Aim: Proper shaping and cleaning of the root canal system is one of the most important aspects of endodontic treatment. To estimate the canal length before instrumentation in endodontic treatment, traditionally, conventional radiographic techniques and recently Direct Digital Radiography (DDR) are applied. The application of computer technology to radiography has allowed less exposure time, image acquisition, manipulation, storage, retrieval, and transmission to remote sites in a digital format, elimination of wet processing and considerable reduction in the time lapse between image acquisition and display. The purpose of this study was to compare the accuracy of DDR versus conventional radiography in estimating endodontic file lengths of curved canals in first mandibular molars.
Materials and Methods: In this test evaluation study, fourty extracted human first mandibular molars with root curvature were selected.Samples were divided into two groups: With root curvature less than 25 and more than 25. Samples were mounted in plaster blocks and canal lengths were estimated by using DDR and conventional radiographs. Regression analysis and correlation coefficient were used to calculate statistical differences between the groups with P<0.05 as the limit of significance.
Results: Conventional radiography was more precise in canals with less than 25 degrees curvature (P=0.160). While, DDR was more precise for canals with curvature more than 25 degrees (P=0.605). However, these differences were not statistically significant.
Conclusion: The image quality of DDR system has improved to the point that it can now be used for estimating canal lengths, even for curved canals, with accuracy comparable to that of conventional radiography.

Abstract
Background and Aims: Insolubility has been stated as one of the important characteristics of the materials which are used as sealers in the endodontic treatments. The aim of this study was to evaluate the solubility of four endodontic sealers (ZOE, Dorifill, AH26 and Tubliseal).
Materials and Methods: Five specimens from each sealer with similar size were prepared. After first weighing, the samples were stored individually in bottles containing 50 ml of distilled water at 37ºC. After 7 days, the specimens weighed and changes in the weight of each sample recorded with a digital scale. The data were analyzed by ANOVA and Post-hoc Tukey HSD tests.
Results: The results of this study indicated that Dorifill had the maximum solubility among all sealers with weight loss of 2.8%. Tubliseal and ZOE showed the weight loss of 1.4% and 2.3%, respectively. AH26 showed weight gain of 1.9% during 7 days. There were no significant differences in the mean weight changes between Dorifill, Tubliseal and ZOE groups (P>0.05). A significant difference was found between the mean weight changes of AH26 and that of the other groups (P=0.000).
Conclusion: From the results of this study, all tested sealers were in the standard limit of solubility, and thus, it could confirm this physical property of sealers for clinical applications.

Abstract
Background and Aims: With increasing age and inability to maintain good oral hygiene, the chances of tooth loss increase and the need for dental implants will increase in the future. It also increases the risk of developing peripheral implants, especially at older ages in the failure of implant treatments. Recently, the high prevalence of cardiovascular disease and peri-implantitis in the elderly has been reported. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of cardiovascular disease on the peri-implantitis in people with failed dental implants.
Materials and Methods: In this retrospective study, the files of patients referred to Shahid Montazeri Dental Clinic from 2009 to 2018 whose their failed implants were extracted, were collected. There were a total of 793 people with failed dental implants. The variables of this study were demographic information including age and sex, health status in terms of cardiovascular disease and peri-implantitis, which were identified and then statistically analyzed by examining the files of patients with these two variables. Data were statistically analyzed by SPSS25 statistical software and Chi-square was used to determine the effective variables.
Results: A total of 793 patients had failed dental implants, including 368 women (46.4%) and 425 men (53.6%) with an average age of 50.79 years. 42 patients (5.3%) had heart disease and 44 (5.5%) had peri-implantitis. According to the Chi-squared test, the significance level was less than 0.05 (P=0.011).
Conclusion: The results of this study showed that the cardiovascular disease and peri-implantitis were significantly related.
