Abstract

Background: Job Burnout is one of the important factors to reduce productivity, making mental and physical adverse effects on jobs related to human services and losing efficient manpower by considering the important role of nurses in the health care systems. This study has been done to survey the association between mental health and job burnout syndrome among nurses' staff in training hospitals in Qom province.

Materials & Methods: This is an analytic-descriptive study which has been performed among 200 nurses personnel in the training hospitals of Qom province with applying proboblity multistage statistical method.Three quetionnaires including demographic data,general health and Maslach,s Burnout questionnaire (Inventory) were used to data gathering by which validity and reliability were certified in the previous studies. Data analyzed by SPSS18. Descriptive statistics such as frequency, percentage, inferential statistics (Chi-square test and correlation coefficient of spearman and pearson) and also man-whitney test applied.
Results: Average score of job burnout was 60.8. Respecting general health, 53% of nurses was in danger. Average score of emotional fatique,the personalization and personal accomplishment was 27.2,12.17 and 21.7,respectively. 50 percent of nurses had physical dysfunction,44.5% suffered from anxiety and sleep disorders, 32.5 and 44.5% had social dysfunction and depression, respectively. There was a significant correlation between burnout syndrome and general health. Based on the spearman correlation test, there was a significant correlation between emotional fatique and physical disorders, anxiety and sleep disorders and social dysfunction.
Conclusion: Regarding srtessful nature of nursing job and high prevalence of disorders in general and mental health of nurses incomparision to others and also high prevalence of burnout among nurses in Qom province,it is nesecary to decrease these sort of problems through applying arrangements such as enhancing motivation, increasing work stability, increasing job satisfaction, clearance in how individuals respond to take actions and tasks division among personnels to reduce workload.

Abstract

Background: Hospital waste is one of the environmental problems .Ignoring the proper management of these wastes can lead to outbreak of diseases and epidemics which threat the public health and rise high costs as a result. This study is aimed to assess the level of staff awareness and hospital performance concerning waste management in selected hospitals of Tehran University of Medical Sciences in 2010. Materials & Methods: This is a descriptive-analytical study. The data were collected by distributing a multipartite Likert scale questionnaire among 351 individuals which had been used to measure hospital awareness and performance. The collected data were analyzed by SPSS software. Among Descriptive tests Chi-Square test was used to determine the correlation of qualitative variables and Pearson correlation coefficient was used for quantitative variables. The significance level was considered at 0.05. Results: Significant differences had been seen among different professions` level of awareness .There were no significant difference among different hospitals ` average awareness level although there were significant statistical differences among each hospital`s performance level (p ≤ 0.001). Conclusion: Due to relatively poor status of hospital`s waste management and hospital staff `s performance , better planning for proper management and wastes `excretion is needed to achieve sustainable development, public health protection and the environmental preservation. Staff Training and their performance monitoring and improving is one of the most important factors of hospital waste management plan success.

Abstract

Background:Human reliability assessment consists ofusing quantitative and qualitative methods to predict human contribution to the occurrence of error;so, using reliability assessment techniques is necessary to prevent and limit the consequences of errors in sensitive work environments.Healthcare considers as the high-risk areas.With due attention to the high rates of cesarean section in Iran, this study aimed at evaluating human reliability during this operation.
Materials and Methods:This was a qualitative-descriptive study which was performed as a cross-sectional one using the EMEA technique. At first, the process of operation was divided in to tasks and sub-tasks using the method of hierarchical task analysis. Then, according to the EMEA instructions, the work sheet was completed for all personnel in the operating room.
Results: A total of 126 errors, including 40 errors (31.75%) related to circular nurse activities, 34 errors (26.98%) related to anesthesia activities, 33 errors (26.19%) related to scrub nurse activities and 19 errors (15.08%) related to the activities of the surgeon, were identified.In general, skill-based errors (51.59%)  and judgment-based errors (1.59%) were the highest and the lowest amount, respectively.
Conclusion:According to the study results, among three working groups, skill-based errors forcircularand scrub nurses and anesthesiology expert with the most frequency, and knowledge-based errorsfor surgeon tasks, with the highest frequency should be considered as priorities tocontrol errors.

Abstract

Bachground: The use of optimal purchasing methods in the medical equipment sector, along with the implementation of state laws and regulations by the government, can serve as a way to move towards smart purchases. To be raised. The aim of investigating the factors affecting the decision making of purchasing capital equipment in hospitals affiliated to Tehran University of Medical Sciences.
Materials and Methods: In this applied research, which was conducted in the year 2017, the statistical population of the study were directors, heads and supervisors of the diagnostic and therapeutic sections and medical equipment of all hospitals, and managers and experts of medical equipment of the University of Medical Sciences who were 631 They formed. Data gathering tool was a researcher-made questionnaire. After verifying their validity and reliability, the data were collected and analyzed using SPSS software.
Results: The most effective variables of the actual price of capital equipment at purchase time with a regression coefficient of 0.368 and against the least effective variable in this area is the competitive or exclusive sale of the market with a regression coefficient of 0.162.
Conclusion: Therapeutic centers to purchase capital equipment should use standard decision-making criteria. Considering the sensitive role of identifying and selecting the best brand for the purchase of equipment, as well as the costs that these purchases bring to the health system, the use of quantitative and qualitative criteria as well as the use of experts is very important, in this way, equipment Provides economical and quality services to provide the right services.
