Abstract

Background: Developing countries request to alternative revenue resources. Iran as one of the developing countries with high potentiality for attracting medical tourist is seeking to enter medical tourism marketing .This study aimed to analyze the importance- performance of the Tehran as a capital city to medical tourism viewed by medical tourists and medical service providers. Materials and methods: This descriptive, cross-sectional study was carried out in Tehran selected hospitals in the 3th first months of 2011. The data were gathered by using a validated self-constructed questionnaire. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistical techniques. Results: The results indicate that the majority of the medical tourists are attracted from the United Arab Emirates (22.3%). The respondents considered medical tourism factors as an importance (M=4/40±0/61).The Tehran selected hospitals` performance is average as related to medical tourism factors (M=2/75±0/66). Conclusion: Despite the importance given to medical tourism factors by medical tourists and medical services providers, Tehran selected hospitals` performance is an average and there is no serious attempts are being made to attract medical tourists at macro levels. In spite the quality, variety and costs of the medical services and equipments in the selected hospitals are satisfactory, international accreditation of the hospitals are still in a major problems

Abstract

Background:Job burnout is an issue which often affects personnel`s mental health and quality of services in health systems. This study is aimed to investigate the correlation between burnout and mental health in medical staffs of Valyasr hospital in Borujene due the physical and mental health`s importance of hospitals personnel.

Materials and Methods: This is a descriptive and cross-sectional study which has been conducted during the year of 1391. 133 medical personnel of the Valy Asr hospital had been selected by census. All clinical personnel had been participated in the survey apart from physician.A triple questionnaire including demographic information, general health and questions of Maslach Burnout Inventory  questionnaire had been used for data collection.The data had been analyzed by ANOVA, Spearman correlation coefficient, chi-square test and SPSS (version 16).

Results: The findings revealed that majority of Personnel involved in the survey felt a distinct lack of personal accomplishment and they showed symptoms of mental disorders. Few personnel showed a distinct emotional exhaustion. More than two-thirds of the patients showed mild depersonalization. Significant reverse correlation had been observed between all dimensions of burnout and mental health.

Conclusion:The medical profession has a stressful and arduous  nature.As survey`s findings point to  high prevalence of psychological disorders and reverse correlation between mental health and job burnout , it is highly recommended that managers identify sources of stress and plan for applying preventive interventions and solving current problems.

Abstract

Background: Considering the increasing growth in health care costs along with the resources finitude; therefore, improving the efficiency and efficient use of resources is considered as one of the main priorities of the health system. The aim of this study was to determine the efficiency of direct medical services affiliated with Iranian Social Security Organization using Stochastic Frontier Analysis (SFA) Method in 2008-2015.
 
Materials & Methods: In this descriptive- analytical study, performance of 30 units of direct medical services affiliated with Iranian Social Security Organization was analyzed using Stochastic Frontier Analysis (SFA) Method. The number of active beds, physicians, nurses and staff were used as inputs and combined variables obtained from factor analysis were selected as output. Frontier version 4.1 was used to determine the efficiency and Stata version 14 was used to study the effective factors on efficiency.
 
Results: The average technical efficiency of studied units was 0.816. Based on the value of index of likelihood ratio test ( LR = 100.45 ), Cobb-Douglas production function was selected as the best model.
 
Conclusion: Based on the findings of this study, adjusting surplus manpower, congenital planning for increasing efficiency and resource management should be the priority of the managers so that they can increase the level of efficiency of studied units and reduce the costs to the least possible.
