Abstract

Background: Job Burnout is one of the important factors to reduce productivity, making mental and physical adverse effects on jobs related to human services and losing efficient manpower by considering the important role of nurses in the health care systems. This study has been done to survey the association between mental health and job burnout syndrome among nurses' staff in training hospitals in Qom province.

Materials & Methods: This is an analytic-descriptive study which has been performed among 200 nurses personnel in the training hospitals of Qom province with applying proboblity multistage statistical method.Three quetionnaires including demographic data,general health and Maslach,s Burnout questionnaire (Inventory) were used to data gathering by which validity and reliability were certified in the previous studies. Data analyzed by SPSS18. Descriptive statistics such as frequency, percentage, inferential statistics (Chi-square test and correlation coefficient of spearman and pearson) and also man-whitney test applied.
Results: Average score of job burnout was 60.8. Respecting general health, 53% of nurses was in danger. Average score of emotional fatique,the personalization and personal accomplishment was 27.2,12.17 and 21.7,respectively. 50 percent of nurses had physical dysfunction,44.5% suffered from anxiety and sleep disorders, 32.5 and 44.5% had social dysfunction and depression, respectively. There was a significant correlation between burnout syndrome and general health. Based on the spearman correlation test, there was a significant correlation between emotional fatique and physical disorders, anxiety and sleep disorders and social dysfunction.
Conclusion: Regarding srtessful nature of nursing job and high prevalence of disorders in general and mental health of nurses incomparision to others and also high prevalence of burnout among nurses in Qom province,it is nesecary to decrease these sort of problems through applying arrangements such as enhancing motivation, increasing work stability, increasing job satisfaction, clearance in how individuals respond to take actions and tasks division among personnels to reduce workload.

Abstract

Background:Job burnout is an issue which often affects personnel`s mental health and quality of services in health systems. This study is aimed to investigate the correlation between burnout and mental health in medical staffs of Valyasr hospital in Borujene due the physical and mental health`s importance of hospitals personnel.

Materials and Methods: This is a descriptive and cross-sectional study which has been conducted during the year of 1391. 133 medical personnel of the Valy Asr hospital had been selected by census. All clinical personnel had been participated in the survey apart from physician.A triple questionnaire including demographic information, general health and questions of Maslach Burnout Inventory  questionnaire had been used for data collection.The data had been analyzed by ANOVA, Spearman correlation coefficient, chi-square test and SPSS (version 16).

Results: The findings revealed that majority of Personnel involved in the survey felt a distinct lack of personal accomplishment and they showed symptoms of mental disorders. Few personnel showed a distinct emotional exhaustion. More than two-thirds of the patients showed mild depersonalization. Significant reverse correlation had been observed between all dimensions of burnout and mental health.

Conclusion:The medical profession has a stressful and arduous  nature.As survey`s findings point to  high prevalence of psychological disorders and reverse correlation between mental health and job burnout , it is highly recommended that managers identify sources of stress and plan for applying preventive interventions and solving current problems.

Abstract

Background: ‌ Based on increasing the privatization in hospitals, conducting researches in various fields of private hospitals and comparison with public hospitals is greatly felt.This study aimed at investigating the relationship between job satisfaction and burnout among employed nurses in selected public and private hospitals in Shiraz city.

Materials and Methods: This was a comparative-correlational study. The study population was composed of employed nurses in public and private hospitals in Shiraz city in 2012. sample size was estimated 320 using Cochran formula. The questionnaire of Spector job satisfaction” and “Maslach burnout” were used for data collection. Study conducted in two private and two public hospitals in Shiraz and data gathered randomly among nurses. In order to analysis descriptive and interfere statistics including mean and standard error, Pearson correlation coefficient, MANOVA and independent t- test.

Results: There was a significant and negative relationship among job satisfaction and three dimensions of job burnout in both public and private sectors (p<0.001). In addition, the results revealed that there was a significant difference among the emotional exhaustion and depersonalization between private and public sectors (p<0.05).  However, there was no significant difference between job satisfaction and reduced productivity performance of these two sectors.

Conclusion: According to the findings, by increase in the nurses' job satisfaction, particularly in the public sector, the adverse effects of burnout can be prevented.

Abstract

Background: Job burnout is a result of long-term job stress, which can reduce the quality ofeducation and provision of services. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between jobburnout and its dimensions with occupational stress in Isfahan University of Medical Sciences in 2018.
Materials and Methods: The present study was a descriptive-analytic one. The sample of studyconsisted of 137 staff in faculties of Management and Medical Information, Advanced Technologies inMedicine, Rehabilitation and Nursing and Midwifery in Isfahan University of Medical Sciences using
convenience sampling method in 2018.The study tools were demographic s , Maslach and OSIPOWquestionnaires. Data was analyzed using SPSS version 23 software by descriptive statistics andinferential statistics such as ANOVA, T-test and Pearson correlation coefficient.
Results: Emotional exhaustion calculated in low level (45.2%), depersonalization in high level (45.2%), personal accomplishment in high level (75.3%) and the most participants had normal stress(54.8%). Similarly, based on Pearson Correlation Coefficient, there was a positive significantrelationship between job stress and job burnout and its dimensions, but there was no significantrelationship between personal accomplishment and job stress.
Conclusion: Study results revealed that the higher job stress among employees, the higher jobburnout among employees. As a result, implementing the interventions to reduce occupational stressand strengthen some resources can be helpful to reduce the burnout of employees.

Abstract

Background: One of the main important factors which affects nurses' job performance and potentially influences their capability in accomplishing their tasks and responsibilities is job burnout (JB). This study aimed to investigate the moderating role of JB on the relationship between QWL and job performance among nurses' employees in emergency departments of five training hospitals affiliated to Qazvin University of Medical Sciences in 2017.
 
Materials and Methods: This descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted among 178 nurses' employees in emergency departments of five teaching hospitals affiliated to Qazvin University of Medical Sciences in 2017. In order to assess main variables of present study, three standard questionnaires consisted of Walton QWL, Maslach and Jackson job burnout and Paterson job performance were used. Descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficient and moderated multiple regression analysis were used to analyze data. The level of significance was set less than 0.05.
 
Results: Study results revealed that most of the nursing staff had a low level of QWL, experienced a considerable JB with a moderate to high level of performance. Furthermore, QWL predicted 21% of variances regarding to job performance (R2=0.21, p=0.04). The moderated multiple regression results supported the hypothesis that JB had a significant effect on the relationship between QWL and nurses' job performance (β≠0, p=0.02).
 
Conclusion: Considering the importance of QWL and efforts to develop an appropriate condition to promote different aspects of QWL would play an important role in nurses' productivity and accomplishment of their performance goals.

Abstract

Background and Aim: Burnout is one of the most important factors that reduces the productivity of personnel. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the relationship between human resources management functions and job burnout from the perspective of managers and staff of deputy of Health in Iran University of Medical Sciences.
Materials and Methods: Subjects of this cross-sectional study consisted of 657 managers and staff members of deputy of Health in Iran University of Medical Sciences that 242 individuals were selected according to Morgan's table as the study population. Research data were collected using two questionnaires of burnout and human resources management functions.
Results: 174 (70.7%) participants in the study were women, with mean age and work experience of 41.3 and 15.8 respectively and a standard deviation of 7.35 years. 78.9% of married people and 69.1% of the participants were dissatisfied with the status of their salaries. The dimensions of consequential evaluation, transparent job description and comprehensive training with averages of 4.17, 4.12 and 4.03 out of 7 had the highest score among the various dimensions of human resources functions. Different dimensions of burnout showed that the highest mean was related to feelings of personal inadequacy and depersonalization (4.72). The results of the Pearson correlation test showed that there was a statistically significant relationship between human resources management functions and burnout with a correlation coefficient of -0.439 (P <0.05).
Conclusion: Job burnout can be significantly reduced with the improvement of human resources management functions.

Abstract

Background: Covid-19 pandemic peak put additional strains on healthcare system. In this crisis, the resilience of nursing staff is critical. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between burnout and resilience in frontline nursing staff working in high-risk areas during the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic.
Materials and Methods: The present study is a Descriptive-analytical survey, and the target group is Iranian nurses. According to the Ministry of Health statistics, 125369 people are participated in this study. information is collected from 384 people by cluster distribution using questionnaire. The statistical analysis in this study is performed by SPSS and SMART-PLS software
Results: According to the study, all the collected information is normal. Based on factor analysis, there is an inverse significant relationship between resilience and burnout, and also, the sense of success has a significant effect on resilience as part of burnout.
Conclusion: In order to increase the resilience of nursing staff in such conditions, it is necessary to pay more attention to the factors affecting their burnout and plan to minimize it. Developing educational programs and adding diversity in service delivery might be useful to enhance personal feelings and also reduce burnout.
