Abstract
Introduction and objectives: Despite the advances in the control of food-borne diseases, still one of the dilemmas in the health of most societies and a matter of concern for health authorities is food poisoning and food-borne diseases by unsafe foods.
Materials and methods: In total 390 samples, including 195 samples of raw kebabs and hamburgers and 195 samples of the cooked ones were gathered from shops, sampling raw and cooked meat at the same time, and they were sent to the laboratory for testing, over a period of one year. The methods used for the tests were based on the Iranian National Standard procedures, numbers 356 and 2394.
Results: All the cooked specimens had bacterial contamination in acceptable standard levels and therefore were considered consumable. From the 165 raw kebab samples, 90 samples (54.5%) were consumable but 75 samples (45.5%) were not fit for consumption, where from 30 raw hamburger samples, 22 samples (73.3%) were consumable and 8 (26.7%) were inconsumable. In serological evaluations, Thompson serotype had the highest prevalence in kebab and hamburger samples.
Conclusion: The results of present study show that there is no reason for concern in consuming cooked kebabs.

Abstract
Background: With due attention to the prevalence of thalassemia in Iran and patients' importunate needs for blood intake, this study aimed to inspect contaminations due to repeated blood transfusion which does not sift in blood donation. One such contamination is cytomegalovirus infection, which is an important pathogen in immunosuppressive patients or receivers of transplanted organs.
Methods: This cross sectional study was conducted on 311 thalassemia patients under age of 15 yr who was receiving blood from Hospitals in Tehran and Noorabad Mamasani repeatedly. To determine active infection (presence of IgM antibodies) of cytomegalovirus, ELISA method was used. In addition, 225 healthy people under age of 15 yr were studied as testified group and finally all data were analyzed using SPSS ver. 11.5.
Results: 12.9 % of patients were positive from the view point of active infection. Regional separation of patients showed that the patients resided in Tehran are more contaminated to this virus than patients of other cities.
Conclusion: The range of cytomegalovirus active infection in thalassemia patients is high. One reason might be the infected blood intake or immunosuppressant (weakness of immune system) in patients, therefore immunity care of these patients and negative serologic blood intake with respect to and also hematic parents (parents with the same blood) are important.

Abstract
Background and Aim:To assess of human force and population's programming at high level, is very important that we know rates and characteristics of population. Growth of population has direct relationship with fertility rate of women in community. To control of population and arrive to index of N.R.R.(Net reproduction rate) equal to one ,each family must be has one or tow children .Thus ,in families that they have more over tow children, we must be search about factors affected and attempt to reduce of population's growth , until arrive to a stationary population.
Materials and Methods: The cross-sectional study upon 500 women that are married and have 45 years old and more in Bushehr. Tow-stage random sampling was used in this study. First, Bushehr divided into 23 hypothesis blocks of 1000 households and thus, 20 points from each of blocks were selected by chance. Also, from each of 20 pointes, 25 families were selected by chance. In this study, a questionnaire was used for collecting of data, that questioners were asked of chief of households. The data was analyzed with SPSS package version 13. To find relationship between variables together and with response variable , was used kendall's tau test and chi-square for trend test. The multiple-logistic regression was used to find factors affected on parity progression ratios.
Results: In this study 181 persons(36.2%) of women had illiterate, 229 persons(45.8%) had primary education and 90 persons(18%) of them had high and more education .The age of the first marriage of 456 persons(91.2 %) of women were under 25 years old and the age of the first pregnancy of 196(39.2 %) of them were under 20 years old. Probability of arrive to the first child in Bushehr was equal 0.98,and probability of arrive to second, thirst and fourth children was equal 0.92,0.81 and 0.72 respectively. This study shows that the factor like the age of the first marriage of women has a negative effect on PPR (parity progression ratio) from zero to one child, and the factors like the women's education and having a dead child have a positive effect on it. The results indicate that the factor like having a dead child has increasing effect on PPR from one to tow children, and the factors like the women's education, the age of the first pregnancy and marriage have a decreasing effect on it. In this research it is observed that having a dead child has a positive effect on PPR from tow to three children, and the factors like the age of the first pregnancy and marriage, education of women and their husbands have a negative effect on PPR from tow to three children. Also it is observed that sexually and having a dead child has increasing effect on PPR from three to four children, and the factors like, the women's education, job and education of husband , and the age of the first pregnancy of women have decreasing effect on PPR from three to four children.
Conclusion: The results indicate that probability of arrive to third and fourth children are high. Thus it is show the controlling of family planning in Bushehr dose not good carry out within families belong lately decades.

Abstract
Background and Aim: Acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) is associated with the t(1517) ,fusing promyelocytic leukemia (PML) and retinoic acid receptor-a (RARa) genes. This disease is uniquely sensitive to treatment with all-trans retinoic acid (ATRA) and highly responsive to conventional chemotherapy. The t(1117)(q23q21) abnormality associated with a PLZF-RARa rearrangement is the commonest of the alternative translocations accounting for less than 1% APL. Blasts from PLZF-RARa cases have been found to be resistant to the differentiating effects of retinoids. In this study we aimed to determine the PLZF-RARa and fusion genes in patients with APL morphology who referred to Hematology-Oncology and BMT research center, Tehran Shariaty Hospital in 2006.
Materials & Methods: Peripheral blood and/or bone marrow samples were taken from 200 patients with APL morphology and 200 patients with other subtypes of AML. The mono-nuclear cells were enriched by centrifugation over a ficoll-isopaque gradient. RNA extracted by Trizol or TriReagent and then reverse transcribed to cDNA using random primers. PCR performed using specific primers for each fusion. PCR products electerophoresed on a 2% agarose gel containing 0.05% ethidiume bromide.
Results: In 2 (1%) patients with APL-morphology the RT-PCR analysis showed PLZF-RARa fusion transcripts.
Conclusion: It can be concluded that RT-PCR is a rapid and sensitive method for detection of abnormal fusion genes in leukemia and allows the definition of a correct strategy for treatment and subsequent minimal residual disease monitoring

Abstract
Background and Aim: Sudden death in athletes commonly is due to unknown cardiovascular diseases. Therefore many protocols have designed for screening in the world. In the last years has been spent more attention to sport in elderly athletes and the number of their competitions have been increased. The aim of this study was evaluation of risk factor of cardiovascular diseases in Iranian elderly wrestlers.
Materials and Methods: All the members (60 athletes) of Iran team in Elderly Wrestling World Championship 2006 have taken census in the present study. At two sections the cardiovascular health state of them has evaluated: history taking and physical examination, electrocardiography and exercise test. All date was analyzed by SPSS version 14 and mean and standard deviation for presenting findings.
Results: Sixty athletes aged 37 to 78 years (54.65±8.75) with history of exercise from 12 to 55 years (37.8±9.4) have been studied. In the history of 66.7% and in physical examination and history 75.1% athletes had at least one risk factor. Exercise test results of wrestlers were highly positive and positive in 8.6% and 5.2% respectively.
Conclusion: We suggest a perfect history taking and a complete physical examination for each athlete at the first step. If you found abnormalities then noninvasive diagnostic testes such as electrocardiography, exercise test and echocardiography will be useful and informative.

Abstract
Background and Aim: Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia (CML) is a clonal hematopoietic stem cell disorder characterized by a translocation between chromosome 9 and 22 called Philadelphia Chromosome. Telomerase- essential enzyme that adds telomeric repeats into the telomeres- maintains integrity of chromosomal ends. Most normal somatic cells do not express hTERT (catalytic subunit of telomerase) but most neoplasia and cancer cells express it. In this study we evaluated the hTERT expression in patients with CML at different phases of the disease.
Materials and Methods: In this cross sectional study, 73 samples of 45 patients with CML were studied. Twenty six of samples were taken from patients in chronic phase before therapy and 26 samples three month after therapy. Nine samples were taken in accelerated phase and 12 in blastic phase. hTERT expression was studied by RT-PCR and the results were analyzed using SPSS 15.
Results: Thirty three (73%) of patients were male and 12 (23%) were female. Patients were divided into three age groups 17-29, 30-40 and 41-75 years. Of 73 samples, 43 samples (58.9%) were positive for hTERT and 30 samples (41.1%) were negative for this gene. In chronic phase (before therapy) 69.2% of the samples were PCR positive, but after therapy only 38.5% of samples were PCR positive. In accelerated and blastic phases, 55.6% and 83.3% of samples were PCR positive respectively. The hTERT positivity was differently significant (p<0.05) among different phases of the disease.
Conclusion: Significant difference between hTERT expression in different phases of CML disease can be used as a useful molecular marker for fallowing up, prognosis and disease progression after treatment

Abstract
Background & Aim : Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) is a disorder of pluripotential hematopoietic stem cell that is as a myeloproliferative disease and occurs in about 15 percent of all leukemia. Two cell cycle regulatory proteins that function as tumor suppressor are P16INK4A and P14ARF. The origin of these two proteins is a human INK4A-ARF gene locus that located on chromosome 9p21. P16INK4A control retinoblastoma (Rb) and P14ARF control with p53 thought negative feedback. The purposes of this study, this was that whether these genes are preferable use as a factor in prognosis and progression of disease.
Materials and Methods: This research was a Cross sectional study. The expression of p16INK4A and p14ARF mRNA in about 73 peripheral bloods (PB) Samples were collected from 45 CML patients at different phases of disease were assayed by reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). 26 samples were from patients at chronic phase before any treatment, 26 samples 3 month after treatment with imatinib, 9 samples in accelerated phase and 12 samples in Blastic phase.
Results. From 45 patients with CML, 33 patients (73%) were men and 12 patients (27%) were women. About 26 samples (35%) were p16INK4A positive and 55 samples (75%) were p14ARF RT-PCR positive. This expression of the two genes at different phases of disease were not statistically significant (p>0.05).
Conclusion: High percentage of the CML patients expressed P14ARF and P16INK4A genes. The expression of these gene at different phases of disease (diagnosis, accelerate, and Blastic phases) was not statistically significant even though, the expression of these genes was higher after the treatment. The increased expression of these genes was probably because of the Imatinib treatment.

Abstract
Background and Aim : Myeloproliferative neoplasms are clonal and heterogeneous disorders of hematopoietic stem cells lead to increase of one or more cell lines in the blood. Recently, the acquired mutation JAK2 V617F has been described in the majority of patients with myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs).This mutation is characterized by a G to T transverse at nucleotide 1849 in exon 12 of the JAK2 gene, located on the chromosome 9p, leading to a substitution of valine to phenylalanine at amino acid position 617 in the JAK2 protein. The aim of this study was to assess the prevalence of JAK2 mutation in MPN patients.
Materials and Methods: In this experimental study we evaluated JAK2 mutation in 58 patients with MPNs by simple randomized sampling. The mutation was detected by ARMS-PCR in patients.
Results: The JAK2 V617F mutation was detected in 86.6% (26/30) of patients with polycythemia Vera, 46.6% (7/15) of patients with essential thrombocythemia and 61.5% (8/13) of patients with idiopathic myelofibrosis. Polycythemia Vera patients carrying the mutation displayed a higher levels of WBC (p=0.03) and 61.5% (16/26) of these patients were females. The differences in other groups were not significant. The mutation was confirmed by sequencing.
Conclusions: Our Results show similarity with other studies. Thus, ARMS-PCR can be applied as differential diagnosis test for detection of JAK2 mutation in suspected patients with MPNs.

Abstract
Background & Aim: Unified Medical Language System (UMLS) is an extensive ontology of biomedical knowledge developed and maintained by U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM). Traditional Iranian Medicine (TIM) does not have any position in the structure of metathesaurus of UMLS. The main aim of this study was designing a scheme of TIM cluster's crotch mapping in the structure of metathesaurus of UMLS. Moreover, the TIM position and its proportion in the domain of vocabulary and concepts of universal medical knowledge was another aim of this study.
Materials and Methods: System analysis was the method of this study. To investigate structure of UMLS metathesaurus, and to survey lacking of TIM cluster's crotch, we applied UMLS Knowledge Source (KS) by using inductive, deductive, inductive-deductive approaches.
Results: One Concept Unique Identifier (CUI) two synonym terms with Lexical Unique Identifier (LUI), L0025131 and L6330122 two ancestor and parent concept nine concepts which with TIM crotch were the child concepts of two ancestor and parent eighteen sibling concepts six narrower and five other related found concepts were identified for the proposal TIM crotch mapping in metathesaurus of UMLS. In addition, we found the "Biomedical Occupation or Discipline" semantic type assigned to it.
Conclusions: Current domain of metathesaurus of UMLS does not represent complete and formal domain and position of TIM. Therefore, this metathesaurus needs to depict a domain and position for TIM.

Abstract
Background and Aim: The JAK2 is an acquired mutation that is observed in majority of patients with classical Philadelphia-negative Myeloproliferative neoplasms that include polycythemia vera (PV), essential thrombocythemia (ET), primary myelofibrosis (PMF). This acquired mutation is characterized by a G to T transversion at nucleotide 1849 in exon 12 of the JAK2 gene, leading to a substitution of valine to phenylalanine at amino acid position 617(V617F) of the JAK2 protein, and result in constitutive JAK2 activation that promotes hypersensitivity to growth factors and cytokines.
Materials and Methods: In this study we evaluated RNA from 58 patients with MPNs and statistical analysis was done with mann whitney test. The mutation detected by AS-PCR. In addition, 3 samples were sequenced in Mille gen company.
Results: 46 patients:86.6%(26/30) of those with polycythemia vera, 53.3% (8/15) of those with essential thrombocythemia,61.5% (8/13) of those with idiopathic myelofibrosis polycythemia vera patient carrying the mutation displayed higher levels of WBC (p=0.03). on the other hand,16 out of 26 JAK2V617F positive patients were female there is a demonstrate correlation between the presence of a mutant allele and female gender. The difference in other groups were not significant.
Discussion and Conclusion: The JAK2V617F mutation has been detected in the vast majority of patients with polycythmia vera (65-95%) and in a lower frequency in patients with essential thrombocythemia (23-57%), idiopathic myelofibrosis (23-57%) and chronic myeloid leukemia 19% (3/16 CML Ph-). Detection of the mutation is helpful in differential diagnosis, prognosis, and prediction of therapeutic response.

Abstract
Background and Aim: Evaluation for STIs requires speculum examination. It is sometimes uncomfortable and rejected by many patients. Speculum examination often is impractical or not available in remote areas. Recently, it is possible to omit the speculum examination and noninvasively diagnose for Chlamydia and gonorrheal infections from urine sample. This comparison study was conducted by collected vaginal specimens directly without performing a speculum examination for the diagnosis of trichomonas infections.The aim of this study was comparison of two methods of vaginal discharge collection with and without speculum examination for diagnosis of the trichomonas infection.
Materials and Methods: We examined 100 patients with vaginal discharge to the gynecology clinic of the Taleghani hospital. Two vaginal swab were collected from vaginal discharge of patients before and during speculum examination for diagnosis of trichomoniasis. Both of vaginal specimens were tested with blinded microscopic. Compared collection methods sensitivities, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value and accuracy of both methods was compared.
Results: Sensitivities, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value and accuracy of speculum collection methods were 69%, 99%, 92% ,94% and 93% for trichomoniasis respectively. Sensitivities, specificity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value and accuracy of nonspeculum collection methods were 62.5%, 99%, 91%, 93% and 92% for trichomoniasis respectively. The differences between methods was not statistically significant (P= NS). There was a very good agreement between both methods for diagnosis of trichomoniasis (KAPPA= o.85).
Conclusions: We have demonstrated the benefit of nonspeculum vaginal specimens for the diagnosis of trichomoniasis. This technique has applicability for studies involving the epidemiology of vaginal infection as well as for home diagnostic testing ,elder and pregnant women respectively.

Abstract
Background and Aim: The present study was designed to compare the cell death, circulating levels of tumor necrosis factor-α and tumor necrosis factor type-I receptor in Iranian patients with sepsis and normal controls.
Materials and methods: Twenty-two patients with sepsis were included in this study. After blood collection, the serum circulating levels of TNF- and TNFRI measured with ELISA kits. The PBMCs isolated from blood samples and proportion of apoptotic cells measured by flowcytometry at the time of blood draws (0 time) and after 24-h incubation. PBMCs incubated at 37°C in culture (spontaneous apoptosis) and in the presence of rTNF that is capable of inducing apoptosis in activated T cells expressing the TNF family of receptors.
Results: PBMCs obtained from the patients showed significantly higher (P<0.001) proportion of apoptotic cells than PBMCs of controls at 0 time, indicated that a higher fraction of PBMCs were undergoing apoptosis in vivo in patients but not in controls. After 24-h incubation, spontaneous ex vivo apoptosis of PBMCs was nearly as high as that of TNF- induced apoptosis, indicating that activated T cells had been preprogrammed in vivo to die.
Discussion and Conclusion: The circulating levels of both TNF- and TNFRI showed significantly higher in patients (P<0.001) than controls and this increase is proportional (r=0.908) in both indicating that TNFRI may have a protective effect in the early stage of sepsis.

Abstract
Background and Aim: APL is a Prevalent leukemia that Approximately included 5-10% of patients with acute myeloblastic leukemia. ATRA and recently arsenic is used for treatment. ATRA leadsto resistance to treatment and arsenic is toxic in high doses.AZT induce cell death in different ways. The purpose of this study was Assessment of effect of AZT, a telomerase inhibitor, on NB4 cell line (APL cell line) to reduce toxic effect of high dose arsenic.
Materials and Methods: In this study, viability and metabolic activityof NB4 cells, treated by different concentrations of AZT(50,100,200 µM), was assessed by trypan blue dye method and MTT assay respectively.
Results: Treated cells with AZT=50,100,200µM showed decreased viability, both in dose-dependent and time-dependent through trypan blue dye method and decreased cell metabolic activity by MTT assay.
Discussion and Conclusion: Considering that AZT is able to induce apoptosis and decrease cell activity, it seems AZT is a suitable drug for inhibiting the growth of tumor cells.

Abstract
Background and Aim: MicroRNAs (miRNA) are small noncoding RNA molecules that transcribed by RNA polymerase II. After biogenesis, these molecules act by incorporation into the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC). MiRNAs are involved in multiple physiological and pathological processes such as proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis and cancer.
Recently several studies reported down regulation of mir-150 during erythropoesis. Since hemoglobin expression is valuable indicator of erythroid differentiation we evaluated the mir-150 downregulation effect on alpha chain expression by Quantitative RT-PCR.
Materials and Methods: K562cells were grown in RPMI1640 in standard condition. K562 cells were transfected by microRNA 150 Inhibitor using transfection kit .Mir-150 downregulation was confirmed by miRNA Real time PCR, followed by Q-RT-PCR to investigate the alpha chain expression changes.
Results: By relative QRT-PCR the alpha chain expression was increased 10 folds in comparison to untransfected and scramble cells. Furthermore, the differences were statistically significant (P<0.05)
Conclusion: Elevation of alpha chain expression in our study showed that mir-150 downregulation has a crucial role in erythroid differentiation and can introduce as a novel marker in alpha thalassemia. Further researches to find out the detail mechanism and miRNAs genes target could improve our knowledge about miRNAs potential in management of diseases and their applications in gene therapy and regenerative medicine.

Abstract
Background and Aim: Acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) is a distinct subtype of acute myeloid leukemia. APL is characterized by a balanced reciprocal translocation between chromosomes 15 and 17, t(517)). Important therapeutic strategies for this disease are ATRA and Arsenic trioxide. To eliminate tumor cells with arsenic, high dose of arsenic is needed. But high dose is toxic for normal tissue. The purpose of this study is Assessment of effect of low dose of arsenic trioxide in combination with AZT on NB4 cell line (APL cell line) to reduce toxic effect of high dose arsenic.
Materials and Methods: In this study after NB4 cell line culture and proliferation, the cells treated with low dose of arsenic trioxide(0.5µM) in combination with different doses of AZT(50, 100, 200 µM) and then viability and metabolic activity was assessed by try pan blue and MTT assay respectively.
Results: Low dose of arsenic (0.5µm) alone and in combination with dose of 50µm of AZT has little effect on viability and metabolic activity but in combination with higher dose of AZT has significant effect on viability and metabolic activity and both viability and metabolic activity significantly reduced.
Conclusion: Different apoptosis- induced mechanisms cause apoptosis by arsenic and AZT. Since some of these mechanisms between AZT and arsenic are similar, so maybe these similar mechanisms cause synergic effect and significant reduction of viability and metabolic activity in combination of these two drugs.

Abstract
Background and Aim: Identifying criteria of expert teacher and efforts to strengthen and use them in teaching by teachers will enhance the learning process. In this way, one of the important methods is taking the views of students. This study was conducted to determine the characteristics of an expert teacher for effective teaching from the viewpoints of allied medical students at Tehran University of Medical Science.
Materials and Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 200 BSc of allied medical students at were included employing simple random sampling method. Data collection was done employing a self administrated questionnaire. Validity and reliability of questionnaire was calculated. Data analysis was carried out by t-test and SPSS software.
Results: Some criterias like dominance in the scientific subjects (86.8%), power of expression and transmission the training materials (86.2%), respect for students(85.6%), good mood(85%) and work with ethic and sense of responsibility (84.4%) are important criteria for expert teacher. Furthermore, no significant relationship was found between gender and field of study and the above-mentioned four domains (p> 0/05).
Conclusion: Teaching ability was the most important factor for teaching process from he view of the students which could be paid attecntion in teachers' assessment program.

Abstract
Background and Aim: Group B streptococcus(GBS)(Streptococcus agalactiae) is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality of the newborn infant and accounted as a factor leading septicemia after birth in mothers. Infections in infants are usually acquired by contact with the genital tract of the mother during labor and delivery. So a rapid screening test for group B streptococcus that could accurately identify pregnant women who are carrying the bacteria at the time of delivery would obviate the need for prenatal screening.The goal of this study was molecular epidemiology of group B beta Hemolytic Streptococcal(GBS) colonization in the vaginal flora of pregnant women.
Materials and Methods: Samples were taken from mucus of anal and vaginal of 250 pregnant women during 35-37 week's ingestion by swap. Samples were tested by standard culture using Todd Hewitt Broth and Blood Agar and also by PCR using cfb gene.
Results: Culture identified 21(8.4%) women as carriage of GBS from 250 women but PCR assay could identify 24(9/6%) women. In comparison to culture results, sensitivity, NPV Specificity PPV of PCR Were(100%, 100% and 97%, 82%) respectively. The times that used for PCR assay and culture were 2h and 36h respectively.
Conclusion: In conclusion, we found that group B streptococci can be detected rapidly and reliably by a PCR assay of combined vaginal and anal secretions from pregnant women at the time of delivery. Also this study shows that incidence of GBS is at high rate in Iranian pregnant woman, so we recommend screening of pregnant woman for detecting of GBS emphatically.

Abstract
Background and Aim: Micro RNAs are a group of small non-coding RNAs which play an important role in multiple processes such as proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, and cancer. Recent studies indicate that mir-210 is overexpressed into erythroid linage during the differentiation of hematopoietic precursor. The main goal of the present study is to investigate the influence of mir-210 on the pattern of expression in hemoglobin gamma chain.
Materials and Methods: First, K562 cell line was cultured in RPMI1640 media. Then, pre-miR-210 was transferred into K562 cell line by lipofectamin. Finally, the alterations in the pattern of gamma chain expression were analyzed in days 7 and 14 by RT-PCR and real time PCR technique.
Results: It was demonstrated that the overexpression of mir-210 in K562 cell line would lead to a 25-fold increase in the expression of gamma chain in comparison with the control group. Data analysis revealed that the change in the pattern of hemoglobin gamma chain expression was meaningful (p<0.002).
Conclusion: Based on these data, overexpression of mir-210 can lead to a significant increase in the production of gamma chain. Therefore, more studies in the field may reveal the fact that an increase in mir-210 can be a suitable goal in the improvement of sickle cell anemia and β-thalassemia.

Abstract
Background and Aim: Self-citation, as one of the limitations of citation analysis, unusually affects the ranking of journals. This study aims to evaluate the degree of relationship between self-citation and immediacy index correlation of Iranian medical journals indexed in Scopus Citation Index between 2005 and 2009.
Materials and Methods: The method of the study is survey-descriptive in which citation analysis is used. The study included all Iran-based English medical journals indexed in Scopus database up to May 2009. The control list was prepared and its validity was confirmed. Data were collected by referring to Scopus website and publication review resources, and analyzed by statistical software and appropriate methods.
Results: The findings showed that self-citation rate of journals was 29.64 percent, which comprised 14.43 percent of the total number of citations. There was a significant relationship (at the level of 0.01) between self-citation rate and immediacy index of journals (p = 0.591). Besides, Pearson correlation coefficient showed a significant relationship between the number of journals' articles and the journals' immediacy indexes excluding self-citation during the years of study.
Conclusion: Self-citation has a direct effect on journals' immediacy index that is, an increase in the rate of self-citation causes an artificial increase in the journals' immediacy index. On the other hand, immediacy index is affected by the number of journal articles. Therefore, the reduction or elimination of self-citation seems to be necessary for the journals and can put them in their right place.

Abstract
Background and Aim: An Adapting work condition with physical and mental conditions of employees is an essential factor to do the job effectively. This study
was conducted to determine the relationship between employees occupational accidents and absence from work in Shiraz Namazi Hospital.
Materials and Methods: This descriptive-analytical and cross-sectional study was done in Shiraz Namazi Hospital at 2010. One Hundred and sixty employees in
different departments of the hospital with a random stratified sampling were enrolled in this study. Data were collected using the checklist consisting of three
parts: demographic information, types of occupational accidents and three open questions to enumerate other occupational accidents, diseases resulting from
occupational accidents and possible causes of exposure to this accidents. Data were analyzed using the SPSS software and using descriptive statistics and chi square & t tests.
Results: Out of 160, 159 participants responded and returned the questionnaire,out of which 68.9% were females. Cuts with sharp objects (22%) and toxicity
resulting from working with solvents (82%) were the lowest and highest nonexposure in sample's studies, respectively. A statistically significant relationship
between gender, work shift, organizational status and duration of employment with the occurrence of a number of occupational accidents was observed.
Conclusion: According to the results, there was no clear relationship between absences from work and frequency of each occupational accident. We recommend
the hospitals to consider notebooks for recording occupational accidents and theirway of occurrence. Also , training courses for employees shoud be in priority.
