Abstract

Background And Aim: Nowadays university websites are very important in information services. There fore university has designed website for categorizing and availability of mass of information . This study accomplish to purpose evaluated of Tehran university of medicine sciences website base on webometrics criteria on 2008 .

Materials and Methods: This survey have been used link analysis methods by four criteria : visibility , size , rich file and google scholar . The situation of Tehran university of medicine sciences website has surveyed . Data gathering tools at webometrics survey are search engines . Data are gathering at google , yahoo, live search and exalead search engine . For data analysis used Excel software.

Results: Findings showed that , visibility of Tehran university of medicine sciences website with 9562 inlinks are weak , nevertheless published research at google scholar with 12100 articles , have suitable ranked in region and world. also size of university website depended to indexing of search engine , web of university often indexing at google and yahoo , less than at live search and exalead .10813 pages published at Rich files format on google , website of university tend to publish rich files as format of .pdf and then .Doc and .ppt . Average load time for tums with 4.2 second is not desirable.

Discussion and Conclusion: Number of papers and citations for tums domain at google scholar is very good at world and middle east. Number of pages recovered from Google, Yahoo in Persian language are optimum but pages from Live Search and Exalead in English language is not favorable . The total number of unique external links received to tums website from Iranian university website is good but from international and information institution is low .

Abstract

Background and Aim: The production of science is the key element of program to achieve sustainable development. Currently, the most important characteristic to produce knowledge is the number of document indexed from scientific journals in databases that do bibliometry and Scientometrics study. The aim of this study is evaluation of scientific production of Iranian medical domain based on the document indexed form scientific journal in chosen database, between 2005-2009.

Materials and Methods: Analytical- descriptive method and bibliometry analytic was adapted. The study population includes all scientific journals that was published in English and indexed in WOS and Scopus until of the time of this study. Data collection tool was check list that was made by researchers & complete by referring and direct observation in WOS and Scopus databases. Data was analyzed by SPSS and other statistical methods.

Results: Showed that from 44 journals title that studied, 18 titles was indexed in WOS and 20 titles was indexed in Scopus. The number of records and citation, according to the review with passing year, has been rising. Maximum number of documents and citations are related to the final years. Number of records in the Scopus database is more than WOS, but the differences in not significant (P- value = 0/186).

Discussion and Concoction: Journals visibility in the medical science filed in review databases in not desirable. Less than 50 percent of scientific journals were indexed in databases. Between the years studied, the scientific production of medical area of the country has been growing but to reach the proper situation, more effort is required.

Abstract

 Background and Aim: Organization and utilization of non-book materials is an essential issue therefore, this study aims to evaluate the organization of non-book materials in central libraries of selected universities of Tehran.

 Materials and Methods: The present survey has been conducted as a cross-sectional, descriptive study in 2012. The population consisted of central libraries of selected universities of Tehran. Data gathering instrument was a questionnaire divided into three sections. The validity of the questionnaire was checked by the professionals of the field and its reliability turned out to be 88% using Cronbach's alpha test. Data analysis was performed with SPSS and excel. The findings were presented using descriptive and analytic statistics.

 Results: Most of non-book cataloged and indexed materials are theses and compact discs (CDs). Most of the libraries of this study use the Library of Congress Classification System for organizing their materials, and all of them (100%) apply Anglo-American rules for cataloging. Regarding the staff of libraries, 40 (95%) had academic degrees in library studies. As to their familiarity with OPEC, 4 libraries ( 80%) were familiar with Library of Congress (LC) and 3 ( 60%) were familiar with National Library of Iran. NOSA software was used in 4 ( 80%) libraries , and Windows operating system in all (100%).

  Conclusion: Based on the results of the present study, it can be concluded that the organization of non-book materials in these libraries is not as desired.

Abstract

Background and Aim: As a new educational innovation, "MOOC" refers to Massive Open Online Course which provide the chance of training for the public. Regarding the importance of MOOC production for improving health literacy knowledge in the medical field, the purpose of the present study was to comparatively investigate the MOOC presented on the Maktab Khaneh website based on quadruple indexes focusing on the field of medicine, determining and explaining it.
Materials and Methods: This study was descriptive and an applied research, which has been conducted in January 2016. Statistical population was all of the educational course presented by the Maktab Khaneh website. Data were collected using direct observation of the Maktab Khaneh website and courses was studied according to quadruple indexes of MOOC, universities cooperation and the education field. The collected data was analyzed after being entered into the statistical software Excel using descriptive statistics.
Results: Based on obtaining data, courses presented by the Maktab Khaneh website were Massive, Open, Online, But some of them were the Courses. Major cooperation was from Sharif University of Technology, Khan Academy, and then Tehran University. Whereas, cooperation of other universities was low. 
Conclusion: Despite the necessity of MOOC production in the medical field, MOOC production rate in the medical filed was very low. Faculty members of different universities and institutes are suggested to exploit this new educational innovation and take effective actions for introducing MOOC.

Abstract

Background and Aim: Libraries need strategies, such as marketing, to provide services to patrons. The purpose of this research is to compare the components of marketing in academic libraries of Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) and Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences (SBUMS) based on the 7ps Marketing Mix Model.
Materials and Methods: This is a cross-sectional, comparative study with an applied approach. The population members are 77 librarians working in 20 academic libraries at TUMS and SBUMS. A census sampling was performed for data collection. The data collection tool was a researcher-made questionnaire that was completed through interview. The data were analyzed by SPSS (ver. 20) using Chi-square analysis, independent samples t-test, and Mann-Whitney test.
Results: There was no significant difference in gender, work experience, and level of education between the librarians of the two universities. Mean scores for people, physical evidence, promotion, and process in the libraries of SBUMS were higher than those of TUMS. Only the price factor (the fee paid by users for goods and services) in libraries of TUMS was significantly higher than those of SBUMS. Besides, for product factor (lending books and returning services, audio-visual resources, and access to databases, etc.) and place (library website or building and user interface), there was no significant difference between the studied libraries of the two universities, as well (p>0.05).
Conclusion: Overall, the marketing scores of TUMS libraries were lower than those of SBUMS. Nevertheless, SBUMS must also pay attention to marketing for library services, especially for product factor.

Abstract

Background and Aim: Ontologies facilitate data integration, exchange, searching and querying. Open Biomedical Ontologies (OBO) Foundry is a solution for creating reference ontologies. In this foundry, the design of ontologies is based on established principles which allow for their interactions as a single system. The purpose of this study is to determine the main features of ontologies developed based on foundry principles.
Materials and Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional study (2017) retrieved data about the ontology components, subject, language and tool from the OBO foundry website, and OntoBee (the default linked data server for the foundry ontologies). The frequency of classes, instances, Object Properties, DataType Properties and Annotation Properties are classified by the use of descriptive statistics.
Results: The main subjects of 151 ontologies were Anatomy, Health and Phenotype. Most languages and tools were, respectively, OBO and OBO-edit versions used for the development of ontologies. Five percent of ontologies contained more than 78977 classes, 150 object relations, 39 DataType relations, 110 annotation relations, and 356 instances.
Conclusion: Increasing the number of ontologies developed based on OBO foundry principles as well as using OBO language and OBO-Edit is indicative of the fact that ontology developers have accepted the principles and tools.
