Abstract

Background and Aim: Cutaneous leishmaniasis (CL) is prevalent in most tropical and subtropical countries of the world and leads to adverse economic consequences. This study was performed to estimate the cost of healthcare services delivered to CL patients in Qom Province.

Materials and Methods: Based on the data from 638 CL patients, this cross-sectional study was performed in Qom during 2009-2011. First, using researcher-made forms and based on the accounting documents, the direct and overhead costs of health services in the studied areas were calculated. Then, the out-of-pocket costs per patient were obtained. Finally, the gathered data were calculated using the excel software.

Results: In total, more than 1,600 million rials was spent on providing health services to 638 patients with cutaneous leishmaniasis in endemic foci of Qom. The direct healthcare cost was estimated to be about a thousand million and the overhead cost about 600 million rials. Besides, the state cost per patient was estimated to be over 2,520 thousand and the out-of-pocket cost per patient about 240 thousand rials. Moreover, the average total cost per patient was calculated to be 2,760,772 in the studied period.

Conclusion : Based on results, considerable costs are spent for CL diagnosis and treatment in Qom. Therefore, health planners should give priority to the prevention of this disease in their programs.

Abstract

Background and Aim: The objective of this study was to design electronic card of health for schizophrenic patients to better manage their clinical information.
Materials and Methods: The study was conducted year 2014. The population of the study included 40 psychiatrists. The information, based on minimal clinical and demographic data, was gathered through field study and survey using a questionnaire. Referential and inferential statistics techniques were used to analyze the data.  To schizophrenic patients' electronic health cards, various software were studied to design database, card and card reader.
Results: According to the results and observed frequencies, it was confirmed that the components of demographic and clinical information be inserted in the electronic card of health. The project includes hardware of card reader machine, card and visual studio software. Microsoft SQL Server, 2008, was applied to design database.
Conclusion: The electronic card of health for schizophrenic patients helps the treatment team to provide effective health care as well as medical records and hospital admission's staff in better management of patient information. It also reduces the problems of relatives and family members of the patients in the medical centers and facilitates, and the process of treatment of schizophrenic patients significantly. Using schizophrenia patient’s electronic health card, hospital in better management of patient information puts in good condition.

Abstract

Background and Aim: The purpose of this study was to introduce a new model for indicator of letters in office automation of Tehran University of Medical Sciences.
Materials and Methods: The present study was an applied research and a developmental study in which old automation method has been modified to new model. Regarding to the dispersion of codes assigned to letters, there was no specific order in the codes of both old and new units defined in the system, and firstly, the letter indicators in the office automation system of university in combination with letters and numbers was done without classification, the decision was made to correct it in the office automation system. In new model, numbering the correspondence based on frequency of each university unit's subdivision was described and proposed model was presented.
Results: According to the new numerical model, integrated codes were assigned which were entirely numerical or the combination of numbers. Due to the abundance of units covered by the university, the research centers allocate the largest number to themselves. Therefore, a larger range of indicator codes for these units was considered than for other sections.
Conclusion: This model provides a new model for implementation of office automation indicator code in Tehran University of Medical Sciences and facilitates the search of letters based on the defined number.

Abstract

Background and Aim: Blood malignancies, one of the most common cancers in the world, cause a large number of deaths each year. Many inherited and acquired factors are involved in the development of this disease. Exosomes are a very small model of cells that are secreted by most cells in the body under physiological and pathological conditions. On the other hand, they have found a special place in the treatment of these diseases because of their very small structure and biodegradability.
Materials and Methods: This study is a systematic review article. For this study, the electronic databases such as PubMed, Scopus and Web of Science were reviewed and 110 original and review articles were studied from 2000 to 2020. Exosome, blood malignancies and immunotherapy were used as keywords along with a number of other related terms such as tumor microenvironment, acute myeloid leukemia, acute lymphoid leukemia, chronic lymphoid leukemia and multiple myeloma (Exosome AND Leukemia, Leukemia AND Immunotherapy, Exosome AND Cancer, AML AND Exosome) to search in these databases. Finally, 51 sources that related to exosomes and myeloid and lymphoid blood malignancies were used.
Results: The genomic profile of malignant cells and tumor microenvironment changes in the conditions of the disease. The contents of exosomes released by leukemic cells, including anti-apoptotic proteins, various microRNAs, angiogenic agents, heat shock proteins and oncogenes involved in the development of inflammatory phenotype in the target cells, are known as factors involved in the pathogenesis of leukemia. A variety of therapeutic materials such as anti-inflammatory drugs, recombinant proteins, siRNA and the inhibitor of various microRNAs can also be packaged in the exosomes with several ways and used to treat leukemia.
Conclusion: Exosomes derived from malignant cells play the important role in the growth and proliferation, angiogenesis, metastasis, resistance to chemotherapeutic agent, and the escape of cancer cells from the immune system by the modification of tumor microenvironment. The role of exosomes in the creation and development of blood malignancies has been proven. Therefore, using of them will probably be very helpful and promising in the treatment of these disorders with various forms.

Abstract

Background and Aim: Educating the audience is one of the things that can affect their mental perception of the usefulness and ease of utilizing technology. Due to the lack of knowledge about the unique features and ease of use of Tehran University of Medical Sciences website, some audiences prefer to use the old website and do not accept the changes on the university website well. This research was conducted with the aim of comparing the two methods of face-to-face training and clip training in accepting information technology changes on the university website and evaluating the audience’s awareness of branding features on the web.
Materials and Methods: There were 90 people who participated in this study, 45 of whom received face-to-face training and 45 of them received training about site changes through video clips. Research data collection was done based on Davis questionnaire and data analysis was done using SPSS and Padprism graph software. To compare a quantitative variable in more than two groups, one-way analysis of variance test or Kruskal-Wallis test and also, and also, one-way ANCOVA test were used to check the difference between groups before and after training.
Results: In face-to-face training, variables such as awareness, usefulness and perceived ease of use, as well as attitude and performance regarding the use of information technology before and after face-to-face training or clip did not have significant differences.
Conclusion: Examining the effectiveness of the teaching methods in this project will help the public relations of the university to act quickly for the changes that will occur in the field of web branding in the future, in terms of preparing and accompanying the audience.
