Abstract

 Background and Aim: Nanomedicine is growing very fast. Transfer and commercialization of research results in Nanomedicine is a missing link between technology and market. This is affected by some factors which are barriers to commercialization. The aim of this study was to identify barriers to transfer and commercialize nanomedicine research results in Iran.

 Materials and Methods: The research method was qualitative method based on eight semi-structured in-depth interviews with nanomedicine and commercialization experts in year 2011 in Iran.

 Results: The proposed model of commercialization consisted of five distinct parts: transferor, transferee, transfer object, transfer mechanisms and environmental factors. In this study twenty six environmental factors in seven categories as Environmental Barriers to Transfer and Commercialization of Nanomedicine Research Results was identified.

 Conclusion: The most important barrier to nanomedicine commercialization in Iran are licensing system, lack of capital, and consumption culture.

Abstract

Background and Aim: Breast cancer is one of the most common types of cancers and is the second leading cause of death form of cancer in women. In recent years, many scientific and medical studies have shown that Green tea has anti-proliferative, anti-mutagenic, anti-oxidant, antibacterial and antiviral effects. Some Green tea polyphenols have anti-cancer activity. In the present study, the effect of Green tea extract was evaluated on the Breast cancer cell line (SK-BR-3) and compared with human fibroblast cell line (HU-02).
Materials and Methods: SK-BR-3 and HU-02 cell lines were treated for 24, 48 and 72 hours with different concentrations of Green tea (50, 100, 200, 400 and 800 μg/ml). Then, Bioavailability was analyzed by MTT kit and Apoptosis was analyzed by flow cytometry using an Annexin V-FITS Kit.         
Results: With increasing concentrations of Green tea extract in dose and time dependent manner, bioavailability of cells showed a decrease as compared to control group. Increased incidence of apoptosis was significantly higher in other experimental groups than the control group, while the concentration of 800 μg/ml of Green tea extract was more effective in SKBR3 cell line. Green tea did not show significant effect in HU-02 cells.
Conclusion: Due to the fact that cell proliferation and abnormal apoptosis are one of the main characteristics of cancer cells, Green tea can be used to reduce cell proliferation and increase apoptosis in prevention and treatment of Breast cancer.

Abstract

Backgrounds and Aim: Cardiovascular diseases, especially atherosclerosis, are among the main causes of mortality in developing countries of Asia and West Asia. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of eight weeks of aerobic training on serum lipid profile and fibrinogen in middle-aged men with heart failure.
Materials and Methods: Twenty men with aged 50 to 60 years, with heart failure grade 1 to 3, and heart power of less than 45% were selected and then randomly divided into experimental and control groups. Aerobic exercise was included of eight weeks of aerobic training with intensity of 35-65% of maximal heart rate with a three-session frequency per week. Fasting blood samples were collected from participants before and after of eight weeks. Data were analyzed by Paired sample t-test and Independent sample t-test.
Results: The results showed that after eight weeks of intervention, mean changes of HDL, TC / HDL ratio and fibrinogen were statistically significant (P<0.05). On the other hand, mean changes in LDL, TG, TC and LDL / HDL ratio were not significant (P>0.05).
Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that performing aerobic exercises along with drug therapy can be useful as a good way to prevent cardiovascular disease in people with heart failure
