Abstract

Background and Aim: Ergonomics is the science of refining and optimizing the working environment, occupation and equipment, and matching it with human capabilities and limitations. The purpose of this study was to compare the working environment conditions of the library staff with Ergonomic Principles in selected Universities of Medical Sciences in Tehran in 2016.
Materials and Methods: This is a descriptive and cross-sectional study. The population of this study included all faculty librarians of selected Medical Sciences Universities in Tehran. This study was conducted by census method and all population members (n=85) were studied. The data collection tools were ergonomic checklist in the library environment and a researcher-made questionnaire on the educational status of ergonomic principles. The data were analyzed by SPSS software version 22 after they were collected and entered into the computer.
Results: Based on the obtained findings, it became clear that the status of variables such as body conditions, work space, equipment and environmental conditions was average in terms of ergonomic principles and health variables, and safety factors and welfare facilities were at an undesirable level. In each of the variables of body condition, work space, equipment and safety factors among the libraries of selected Universities, ergonomic conditions did not have significant differences. 
Conclusion: According to the results of this study, it can be concluded that the conditions of the librarians’ working environment in the studied community were not favorable in terms of ergonomic conditions.

Abstract

Background and Aim: Ranking of hospital libraries based on standard criteria and taking pattern of top libraries would improve the quality of library services. The purpose of this study was to rate hospital libraries based on LibQual criteria and Vikor model. 
Materials and Methods: This study was conducted in a survey method. The statistical population was 3850 actual users of the library of 8 governmental hospitals (with capacities up to 320 beds) in Tehran in 2016. To achieve the goals, The LibQual questionnaire and AHP technique were used. The validity of both questionnaires has been confirmed in various studies. Cronbach's alpha coefficient greater than 70 percent For LibQual questionnaire and inconsistency rates less than one percent for Vikor questionnaire confirm the reliabilities. Data analysis was performed using the expert choice software. Ranking were done using the Vikor technique.
Results: According to three main dimensions for LibQual, "library as a place" weighing 0.379 was the first preference, and "quiet space for individual activities" weighing 0.364 was the first in this dimension too. The dimension of "information control" weighs in 0.318 at the second, and "service impact" weighs 0.303 was in the third grade. In the ranking based on the Vikor criteria, the Library of Firoozgar hospital was in the first place.
Conclusion: The library of Firoozgar hospital in Iran university of medical sciences was the forefront and could be an exemplar for the other libraries.

Abstract

Background and Aim: The review of scientific products in reputable international databases is a guideline for policy-making and planning, in addition to determining the present status and shortcomings. The aim of this study is to investigate the scientific products of the research centers affiliated to Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) and Isfahan University of Medical Sciences (MUI) indexed in Scopus during 2009-2013.
Materials and Methods: This is a descriptive, cross-sectional study with a functional approach. All articles of research centers of TUMS (5880 articles) and MUI (2154 articles) from 2009 to 2013 were retrieved from Scopus and analyzed. To compare the means, t-test was used.  Moreover, the data were analyzed by SPSS and Excel softwares.
Results: The scientific products of both universities’ research centers in Scopus index have grown in the years under review. Most of the papers were from Tehran Endocrinology and Metabolism and Isfahan Cardiovascular Research Centers, and most of the products belonged to the subject areas of the endocrinology and metabolism, pharmaceutical sciences and cardiovascular science. No significant difference was found between the scientific products of the centers of the two universities. 
Conclusion: The growth of scientific production of these research centers indicates the importance of scientific products in line with sustainable development in Iran. Presenting the findings of similar studies can be effective in motivating researchers and supporting research by institutions.

Abstract

Background and Aim: Libraries need strategies, such as marketing, to provide services to patrons. The purpose of this research is to compare the components of marketing in academic libraries of Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS) and Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences (SBUMS) based on the 7ps Marketing Mix Model.
Materials and Methods: This is a cross-sectional, comparative study with an applied approach. The population members are 77 librarians working in 20 academic libraries at TUMS and SBUMS. A census sampling was performed for data collection. The data collection tool was a researcher-made questionnaire that was completed through interview. The data were analyzed by SPSS (ver. 20) using Chi-square analysis, independent samples t-test, and Mann-Whitney test.
Results: There was no significant difference in gender, work experience, and level of education between the librarians of the two universities. Mean scores for people, physical evidence, promotion, and process in the libraries of SBUMS were higher than those of TUMS. Only the price factor (the fee paid by users for goods and services) in libraries of TUMS was significantly higher than those of SBUMS. Besides, for product factor (lending books and returning services, audio-visual resources, and access to databases, etc.) and place (library website or building and user interface), there was no significant difference between the studied libraries of the two universities, as well (p>0.05).
Conclusion: Overall, the marketing scores of TUMS libraries were lower than those of SBUMS. Nevertheless, SBUMS must also pay attention to marketing for library services, especially for product factor.

Abstract

Background and Aim: Ontologies facilitate data integration, exchange, searching and querying. Open Biomedical Ontologies (OBO) Foundry is a solution for creating reference ontologies. In this foundry, the design of ontologies is based on established principles which allow for their interactions as a single system. The purpose of this study is to determine the main features of ontologies developed based on foundry principles.
Materials and Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional study (2017) retrieved data about the ontology components, subject, language and tool from the OBO foundry website, and OntoBee (the default linked data server for the foundry ontologies). The frequency of classes, instances, Object Properties, DataType Properties and Annotation Properties are classified by the use of descriptive statistics.
Results: The main subjects of 151 ontologies were Anatomy, Health and Phenotype. Most languages and tools were, respectively, OBO and OBO-edit versions used for the development of ontologies. Five percent of ontologies contained more than 78977 classes, 150 object relations, 39 DataType relations, 110 annotation relations, and 356 instances.
Conclusion: Increasing the number of ontologies developed based on OBO foundry principles as well as using OBO language and OBO-Edit is indicative of the fact that ontology developers have accepted the principles and tools.

Abstract

Background and Aim: Total Knee Arthroplasty (TKA) aims to reduce the pain and improve the quality of life of patients with progressive osteoarthritis. When the indication of patients' disease is established, this type of surgery should be performed as soon as possible because patients' late attendance increases surgical complications. Therefore, identification of factors influencing the choice of this type of treatment approach is of great importance. The purpose of this study is to identify the factors that influence the choice of this treatment approach in patients using the Apriori algorithm in the form of Association Rules.
Materials and Methods: This study is performed on 233 patients referring to Imam Khomeini Hospital in Tehran for a knee replacement surgery; the needed data have been registered at Bone and Joint Reconstruction Research Center. In this study, after the preprocessing stage, the important factors in decision making of knee replacement surgery have been identified by using the Apriori algorithm and by its implementation in the software environment of RStudio. After being extracted, these factors and the relationship among them are given to orthopedic practitioners for confirmation.
Results: In this study, flexion contracture above 20 degrees, deformity (varous-valgus) above 15 degrees, final flexion between 51-75 degrees, and medial cartilage destruction were, respectively, the most important factors in selecting patients for knee replacement therapy.
Conclusion: The results showed that data-mining Algorithms could be used to identify effective factors to select patients for this treatment approach.

Abstract

Background and Aim: Considering the effect of organizational climate on work motivation, not using the librarians who have a satisfactory feeling about their job can cause irreversible damages to the library. Therefore, the aim of this study is to determine the effect of organizational climate of college and hospital libraries on the burnout of librarians working there.
Materials and Methods: This is an applied research and a descriptive-analytical survey. One hundred seventy-seven librarians from faculties and hospital libraries affiliated to Tehran, Iran and Shahid Beheshti Universities of Medical Sciences were surveyed by census method in 2019. Data collection instruments were Halpin and Croft's organizational climate and Maslach and Jackson job burnout questionnaires. The validity was confirmed by 3 experts and the reliability by Cronbach's alpha coefficient. For data analysis, SPSS software, and descriptive and analytical statistics were used.
Results: The findings showed that the mean of organizational climate was at a desirable level (3.4)  and the average of job burnout was 1.7; therefore, the job burnout status of librarians is desirable because it is a negative variable. Also, the components of organizational climate predict 41% of job burnout variable. Among demographic characteristics, job burnout variable varies only in terms of field of study, and organizational climate only in terms of the type of library.
Conclusion: In general, the organizational climate status and job burnout status of the studied libraries are desirable; also, organizational climate components affect job burnout.

Abstract

Background and Aim: In recent decades, increasing productivity and reducing losses by improving abnormal behaviors in the workplace have attracted the attention of organizational behavior experts, especially health researchers. The purpose of the present research is to study the factors influencing the reduction of abnormal behaviors in health workplace.
Materials and Methods: By using meta-synthesis technique, the findings of the related internal and external studies were systematically analyzed using Sandelowski and Barroso seven-step method. The identified codes were classified, analyzed and interpreted by MAXQDA10. Kappa method and SPSS were used to measure reliability and quality control. The calculated kappa coefficient was 0.893, which indicated a good consistency.
Results: From 435 articles investigated in this field, 46 articles were selected, based on which 68 factors were identified. These factors were classified into 3 main categories and 11 pivotal codes. The influential factors identified in this study include individual factors(psychological, demographic, religious, and contextual), group factors(communication, appropriate reward system, and deterrent behaviors) and organizational factors(organizational space, organizational measures, organizational emotions, and job position perception).
Conclusion: The results of this study show that individual factors are the most important ones affecting the reduction of abnormal behaviors. Therefore, the findings of this study emphasize psychological, demographic, religious, and contextual factors in planning and managers’ interventions to increase productivity in health workplace.

Abstract

Background and Aim: Excessive production of free radicals and the accumulation of oxidative damages play an important role in accelerating the aging process. However, one of the ways to fight against aging and related diseases is through physical activity. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of 12 weeks of resistance training on oxidative stress indicators (8-iso-prostaglandin-F2α: 8-iso PGF2α) and oxidative DNA damage (8-hydroxydeoxyguanosine: 8-OHdG) in elderly men.
Materials and Methods: In this quasi-experimental study, 30 elderly men were selected voluntarily and purposefully as a statistical sample and were randomly divided into experimental (n=15) and control (n=15) groups. Participants of the experimental group performed resistance exercises three sessions per week for 12 weeks. At the beginning and end of the study, serum levels of 8-iso PGF2α and 8-OHdG were measured by ELISA method. Correlated and independent t-tests were used to compare intragroup and intergroup means, respectively.
Results: Serum values of 8-iso PGF2α (P=0.007) and 8-OHdG (P=0.013) decreased significantly after 12 weeks of resistance training. Also, there was a significant difference between the experimental and control groups in serum values of 8-iso PGF2α (P=0.009) and 8-OHdG (P=0.02).
Conclusion: It seems that 12 weeks of resistance training reduces the values of oxidative stress (8-iso PGF2α) and oxidative DNA damage (8-OHdG) indicators in older men. Therefore, regular resistance training can play an important role in preventing injuries caused by oxidative stress, especially in old age.

Abstract

Background and Aim: Traditional costing systems are not efficient enough to calculate up-to-date costs and analyze training costs in education organizations. The present study was conducted with the aim of establishing an activity-based costing system in Tabriz School of Management and Medical Informatics.
Materials and Methods: The current multi-method study was conducted in academic year 2017-2018, aimed to establish cost accounting system which we called Beyond Activity Based Costing System (BABCS). First, using Business Process Modeling and Notation (BPMN), 3,729 activities inside 384 processes were identified, then illustrated and finalized in Bizagi-Modeler software. Overhead costs, were allocated initially to final activity centers then to cost objects based on the workload and time duration of activities. Data management was conducted in Excel and cost analysis was performed via Dptsco cost accounting platform.
Results: Despite the capability of the ongoing accounting system (Nezam Novin) in registering and description of the budget and spending of the faculty, it still needs to be reviewed and upgraded to achieve the objectives of accrual accounting. The total cost of the faculty in the study year is equal to 61,872,545 thousand Rials, of which 57,159,882 thousand Rials are related to education and 4,812,663 thousand Rials are the share of research activities. Based on the results obtained from the BABCS system, the average cost of each course unit in the college was calculated to be 5,102 thousand Rials and the average cost of student education was calculated to be 356,092 thousand Rials. The maximum and minimum cost of student education related to the field of Master of Management and Reforms in the Health System (MPH) was calculated at 800,130 thousand Rials and the Bachelor of Health Information Technology was calculated at 100,171 thousand Rials.
Conclusion: Tabriz School of Management and Medical Informatics has spent most of its resources on staff salaries and benefits. Establishment of activity-based costing system and its connection with other Portals and database of the university can play an effective role in managing the work flows and improving staff productivity and efficiency of the faculty organization.

Abstract

Background and Aim: Vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC) is a vaginal fungal infection that mainly caused by Candida albicans. Among various treatments and their controversial outcomes, oral fluconazole has been accepted as a common and efficient treatment for acute and chronic cases. The aim of this study is about therapeutic effect of fluconazole and evaluation of its antifungal susceptibility.
Materials and Methods: In this cross-sectional study Samples were collected from 107 suspected patients to vulvovaginal candidiasis who went to the gynecology clinic of Kashan University of Medical Sciences in (2020-2022). At first consent and then demographic registrations were obtained. All samples were collected and cultured on Chromagar and Sabouraud’s dextrose agar and incubated at 30°C for 72 h. Yeast colonies were identified based on their colors and morphologic criteria.
All patients were treated by a single dose of fluconazole (150 mg/ml) or two continuous additional doses, depending on the absence or history of recurrence. Improvement of clinical and mycological symptoms in patients were followed for 30-35 days. Antifungal susceptibility to fluconazole was determined by microdilution method (CLSI, document M27-A3).
Results: A total of 107 patients were diagnosed with vulvovaginal candidiasis. Candida albicans (79.4%) was the most common identified species. total response to fluconazole treatment based on mycological findings (negative culture and direct smear) was 62.6% (P=0.012), there was no significant difference between candida species, albicans (64.7%) and non-albicans (54.5%), type of vaginal candidiasis forms (recurrent and non-recurrent) and antifungal susceptibility to fluconazole (MIC≤8)(P>0.05). Consideration of MICs≤1 and MICs>1 as a cutoff point there was a significant difference between failure and response to treatment (P=0.014).
Conclusion: According to empiric treatment of Vulvovaginal candidiasis, concurrent Laboratory diagnosis with anti-fungal susceptibility could help us in selecting the appropriate treatment protocol and prevent the emergence or increase of resistant species.

Abstract

Background and Aim: Many health policies are not implemented or incompletely implemented after approval. This issue significantly reduces the popularity and responsiveness of the top managers of the health system and leads to service disruption in the target community. Therefore, this study was conducted to explain the existing challenges in the implementation of health policies.
Materials and Methods: A qualitative study was conducted in 2021. The participants in the study were 20 scientific and executive experts. The data was collected using an interview guide and the in-depth individual interview method and was analyzed using the content analysis method using thematic analysis with Graneheim and Lundman's approach.
Results: The challenges include the policies formulation (lack of evidence-informed decision-making, lack of attention to the details of the implementation, the change of the initial text of the policy, conflict of interests, unclarity the executives, the lack of proper integration between the political and technical components of the policies, the weak participation of the main stakeholders, the lack of the same understanding of policies concept between policy makers and executives and lack of budget forecasting), challenges of policies implementation (uncertainty about roles of executive organizations, lack of executive attachment, conflict of interest,  lack of project management, change of formulated policies with change of executives, little belief among executives, lack of executive guarantee, lack of operational plan) and challenges of policies evaluation (Inadequate supervision and the absence of an informational and supervisory dashboard).
Conclusion: Using effective solutions to solve the challenges extracted in the stages of formulation, implementation and evaluation of health policies can lead to achieving the goals of the formulated policies and improving the health of the society.

Abstract

Background and Aim: The curriculum as the heart of the educational system is one of the effective factors in achieving the goals and mission of the university and its evaluation is of particular importance. Since medical education deals with human life and clerkships also play an essential role in shaping the professional abilities of medical students, this research was conducted with the aim of determining the desirability of clerkship programs from the point of view of medical students of Tehran University of Medical Sciences during the Covid-19 pandemic based on the nine elements of Francis Klein.
Materials and Methods: In this study, a descriptive-survey method was used. The statistical population was 487 medical students of Tehran University of Medical Sciences, who were undergoing the clerkship stage at the time of the research, and the questionnaire was provided to them in the form of a census. The number of samples was determined based on Morgan’s table of 215 people. The research tool was a standard questionnaire, the validity of which was confirmed by professors in the field of educational sciences, and its reliability was calculated using the Cronbach’s alpha method of 0.794. Descriptive statistics (including statistical tables, graphs, central and dispersion indices) and inferential statistics (including one-sample t-tests and independent two-sample t-tests) were used for data analysis.
Results: The results showed that clerkship programs from the point of view of medical students of Tehran University of Medical Sciences during the covid-19 disease, considering that the t-statistic of all research variables is less than 1.96 (educational objectives t=-4.735, educational content t=0/666, learning activities t=-7.812, teaching strategies t=-4.246, educational materials and resources t=-0.970, grouping of learners t=-5.223, learning space (place) t=-4.029, learning time t=-5.043, and learning evaluation t=-7.348) were not desirable in terms of all elements. It was also found that there is no significant difference in attitudes between male and female students regarding the desirability of these programs except for the element of educational goals.
Conclusion: According to the results of the research, the medical clerkship programs of Tehran University of Medical Sciences are facing challenges during the Covid-19 pandemic. Therefore, it is necessary to provide a program that is compatible with the conditions and can meet the educational needs of the learners.

Abstract

Background and Aim: Considering the role of social workers in the health system, the success and stability of organ transplantation, prevention of re-hospitalization of patients and reduction of imposed costs, this study aims to design a protocol for the specialized interventions of social workers in Iran’s medical centers in the transplant process and to create uniformity in practice. Comprehensive services have been provided to patients and their caregivers.
Materials and Methods: The study was conducted in two phases of resource review and qualitative. In the resource review phase, reliable databases were examined, and in the qualitative phase, in order to collect information from Delphi techniques and focused group discussion with the presence of fifteen officials and social workers working in the country’s hospitals and experts and experts. The areas of health and treatment assistants of the Ministry of Health, university professors, medical staff and experts in the field of transplantation and organ donation were carried out. The protocol was sent to eight experienced experts for final review and evaluation, and they were asked to review the protocol in terms of the goal and scope of interventions, stakeholders, development steps, clarity of presentation, accessibility and non-dependence in writing according to the checklist to evaluate.
Results: In this study, the work process of social workers was drawn in three stages before, during and after transplantation. Also, various roles were considered for social workers in three stages of work, including the role of defender, supporter, case manager, resource mobilizer, trainer, consultant, evaluator and guidance. Interventions such as finding informational support, facilitating the patient hospitalization process, providing psychosocial support to the family with the aim of empowering them for post-transplant care, providing counseling to family members to deal with stress and improving mental health of the patient, providing economic support, Accomodation conditions are provided through hospital companions and communication and interaction with the treatment team, including the doctor, in order to respond to the needs of the family, facilitate treatment and on time discharging.
Conclusion: the protocol of specialized interventions of social workers in the transplantation process created a new step and a different look at psychosocial support in transplantation and coordination teams, so that social workers in the field of organ donation and transplantation and working with caregivers, families and the survivors of the patients arrived.

Abstract

Background and Aim: Follicle stimulating glycoprotein hormone (FSH) exerts its functions through its receptor (FSHR). In women of reproductive age, this hormone causes the growth and development of follicles in the ovary during the follicular phase of the menstrual cycle. This hormone is widely used in the treatment of infertility. Several polymorphisms have been reported so far in the FSHR gene, which are effective in the ovarian response, but the FSHR gene has two very common single nucleotide polymorphisms at positions 680 and 307 in exon 10. One of them at position 307 changes the amino acid threonine to alanine and the other at position 680 changes asparagine to serine. The polymorphism at position 307 of exon 10 is in the extracellular region of the receptor and the binding site of the hormone, which can be affected in response to internal and external FSH stimulation. These two SNPs have been reported to be associated with various ovarian responses and IVF outcomes in different populations. Different studies have particularly focused on rs6166 (p. Asn680Ser), but this study was conducted to investigate the possible association between rs6166 and rs6165 (p. Thr307Ala) and the IVF outcome.
Materials and Methods: After blood sampling and DNA extraction, the two polymorphisms in exon 10 of FSHR gene were analyzed using PCR-RFLP method in 120 women randomly assigned to two equal groups including IVF successful and IVF unsuccessful infertile women. The selection of patients to enter the study as well as the criteria for successful IVF are described in the text. In order to confirm the results, DNA sequencing was done for some selected samples. Finally, the results were analyzed using SPSS software.
Results: No significant differences were found in either SNPs between successful IVF and unsuccessful IVF patients in allelic frequencies (P-value>0.05).
Conclusion: Despite the different results of the studies conducted regarding the effect of FSHR gene polymorphisms (rs6165 and rs6166) in different populations, considering the lack of significant difference in the frequency of the above polymorphisms in the studied population, it is concluded that these two polymorphisms cannot be used to predict the outcome of IVF in Iranian infertile women.

Abstract

Background and Aim: Identifying the educational needs of health information technology staff is essential before implementing any continuous education programs. This comprehensive study investigates these needs among health information technology personnel working in hospitals in the Hamadan province, considering both the general and specialized aspects of the field.
Materials and Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted across 11 hospitals affiliated with Hamadan University of Medical Sciences. The study population comprised staff from the reception, medical records, statistics, and coding departments. Data were gathered using a validated and reliable standardized questionnaire. Collection methods included both in-person and remote approaches. Data analysis was performed using SPSS software, with results reported through descriptive and inferential statistics, specifically utilizing the Kruskal-Wallis test.
Results: The results of this study showed that among the generally accepted needs, items such as information technology (96.7%), legal aspects of medical records (87.6%), and communication skills (76.7%) had the highest percentage. Additionally, educational needs varied across different units: Coding unit staff required more training in the principles of diagnosis documentation (92.9%), familiarity with the coding guidelines for causes of death (85.7%), and familiarity with the coding guidelines for procedures (85.7%), statistics unit staff needed training in statistical software, and reception and medical records staff required education on relevant regulations. There was also a significant correlation between educational needs and certain individual characteristics such as work experience, education level, gender, and field of study.
Conclusion: The study results indicate that designing effective educational programs for health information technology staff requires consideration of individual characteristics, such as gender, work experience, and education level. Additionally, the training should be continuous, tailored to the distinct needs of each group, and delivered at appropriate intervals.

Abstract

Background and Aim: An efficient data librarian equipped with the necessary competencies and capabilities is one of the most crucial elements in managing research data. The aim of this study is to identify the expected competencies and capabilities for data librarians in research data management according Harvard Biomedical Data Life Cycle.
Materials and Methods: This study is a scoping review, utilizing the Harvard Biomedical Data Lifecycle model to systematically present the findings. To retrieve relevant literature, a search strategy was employed using related keywords in databases such as Scopus, PubMed, Web of Science, Google scholar and other reputable domestic databases, over the past five years. The research population comprised original research articles published in Persian and English that addressed the expected skills and capabilities for data librarians in managing research data.
Results: Out of 5064 documents found, 196 were selected for full-text review. After reviewing the full texts, 17 studies were included in the research. In total, 92 competencies and capabilities were identified across 23 processes within the 7 stages of the Harvard Biomedical Data Lifecycle: 16 in the first stage, 16 in the second stage, 7 in the third stage, 15 in the fourth and fifth stages, 12 in the sixth stage, 8 in the seventh stage, and 18 general competencies and capabilities. According to the findings, the most studies focused on the competencies and capabilities required for the second stage, “Collection and Creation,” while the fewest studies addressed the seventh stage, “Publish and Reuse.” No studies mentioned competencies and capabilities for the processes “Image Management” in the third stage and “Preprints and Publishing” in the seventh stage.
Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that among the various stages of the data lifecycle, the “Collection and Creation” stage received the most attention. Additionally, data librarians should possess not only specialized and professional skills but also general competencies and capabilities. It is recommended that the findings of this research be considered for designing short-term and long-term educational programs to train data librarians for research data managenet.

Abstract

Background and Aim: Cognitive-behavioral therapy is one of the effective types of psychotherapy in the treatment of psychiatric disorders such as anxiety disorders, depression and improving mental health. This study was conducted with the aim of comparing the effectiveness of acceptance and commitment therapy and cognitive-behavioral therapy on the mental health of patients with a history of myocardial infarction hospitalized in hospitals in Kermanshah province in 2024.
Materials and Methods: The present study is applied in terms of purpose and in terms of implementation method, it is a quasi-experimental study with a pretest-posttest design and a control group. The statistical population of this study included all patients hospitalized with myocardial infarction in hospitals in Kermanshah province, from whom 45 people were selected conveniently and based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria and were randomly assigned to two experimental groups and one control group (three groups of 15 people). To collect the information required for the study, the Goldberg (2003) Demographic and Mental Health Questionnaire was used. SPSS statistical software and t-test and ANOVA statistical tests were used to analyze the research data.
Results: Out of a total of 45 participants, 29 were male (65.4%) and 16 were female (34.6%). The comparison of their mean mental health scores before the intervention in the pre-test and post-test was (64.8±11.18, 63.33±11.34), (62.6±12.22, 58.07±12.94) and (64.87±10.56, 61.87±10.59), respectively. Also, the results of the analysis of covariance test for comparing mental health in the acceptance and commitment therapy and cognitive therapy groups showed that the F value obtained was 7.111 and its significance level was also smaller than 0.05 and was significant (P<0.05). As a result, both text-based acceptance and commitment therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy had a positive effect on the mental health of patients with a history of heart attack, and among them, the effectiveness of acceptance and commitment therapy was higher.
Conclusion: Considering the lower mean scores of the ACT-based therapy group in the post-test, it can be concluded that it was more effective than cognitive behavioral therapy in increasing mental health.
