Abstract

Background and Aim: This study aimed to assess the factors affecting organizational innovation and entrepreneurship at medical sciences universities in Iran. Such universities provide a wide range of services and products including prevention (hygiene), treatment (medical care), rehabilitation and palliative care, as well as their important mission, i. e., higher education and research in related fields.

Materials and Methods: In this study, the researchers developed and examined a model for organizational innovation and entrepreneurship, including 16 factors classified into structure, content (behavior) and context (periphery) of the subject.
The data collection instrument was a pre-structured questionnaire containing 58 core questions on the Likert scale. The validity of the questionnaire was computed by elites, and its reliability was estimated using Cronbach's Alpha (94%). Of 389 questionnaires, 325 were collected and their data were analyzed by SPSS software, version 18.

Results: The three factors -- structural (structure), behavioral (content) and peripheral (context) -- which affect innovation and entrepreneurship are not favorable at medical universities.

Conclusion: This study shows that structural, behavioral and peripheral factors are the most important, which affect innovation and organizational entrepreneurship at medical sciences universities.

Abstract

Background and Aim: Hospital is a complex ecosystem in terms of diversity of services, clients, personnel, equipment, technologies, data and information which are generated. Since the ultimate goal of a hospital is to improve quality of care along with reducing cost, using intellectual tool such as dashboard can create strategic value.

Materials and Methods: This review article was performed based on a literature review and internet search through such scientific databases as PubMed, EBSCO host research, Proquest, Emerald, Web of science and search engine such as Google, Google Scholar. In this study, the articles about intellectual capitals as well as the application of dashboard in healthcare between year 2009 and 2013 were reviewed.

Conclusion: Application of dashboard in hospital can create strategic values such as respond to environmental changes rapidly, identify new market opportunities, become a learning organization by discovering new patterns and relationship among data, achieve best practices by analyzing patterns of treatment and results and achieve the highest efficiency.

Abstract

Background and Aim: Creativity and innovation are considered among the most important factors that help an organization survive. Therefore, it seems necessary to examine the status of this important issue in healthcare organizations such as hospitals. The present study was conducted to determine the relationship between organizational innovation and creativity among the staff of teaching hospitals of Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS).  
Materials and Methods: This descriptive-analytical and cross-sectional study was conducted on 285 staff members of TUMS selected teaching hospitals in 2015. To collect the required data, demographic data form, organizational creativity 
questionnaire and Martin Patchen’s innovation questionnaire were used. Data were analyzed in SPSS software version 21, using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA and Pearson correlation analysis at a less-than-0.05 significance level. 
Results: The organizational creativity rate for the studied staff showed an average of 2.99±0.80, assessed at middle and lower middle levels and the organizational innovation rate showed an average of 19.37±3.71, assessed as middle and upper middle. A statistically significant relationship was observed between organizational creativity and organizational innovation (p=0.02, r=0.20).
Conclusion: The results suggest that an increase in creativity leads to an increase in innovation. Therefore, to survive and maintain a competitive advantage to provide more desirable treatment services at a high quality, hospital managers are required to use their best effort and expenditure so that they can enhance innovation within their organizations.

Abstract

Background and Aim: The present study was conducted to investigate the effect of knowledge management on innovation performance in the pharmaceutical industry, which leads to a sustainable competitive advantage. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of knowledge management on innovation performance in Salamat pharmaceutical investment holding.   
Materials and Methods:
This study is a descriptive-survey applied in terms of data collection method, The statistical population of this research included all the experts and managers of the Salamat Holding Research and Development Unit located in Tehran in the first half of the year 2018. Data were collected through a census, and tools used in this study consisted of standard questionnaire of innovation performance, knowledge management and dynamic capabilities of knowledge management. Data analysis was done by using SPSS and SMART PLS software.         
Results: The results indicate that R & D, product innovation, process innovation and organization size have a significant correlation with innovation performance, which with R2=0.98 have been able to predict the behavior of the variable of innovation performance. R & D with ß=0.466 has the most positive impact on innovation performance. But the hypothesis about the significant effect of knowledge management on innovation performance and, consequently, the moderating effect of KMdynamic capabilities on knowledge management relationships on innovation performance was not valid.
Conclusion: Considering the results of this study, Thinking about the transformation of traditional business methods into new forms and the provision of a behavioral and cultural context in the implementation of knowledge management is significant.

Abstract

Background and Aim: The field of medical engineering is the flagship interdisciplinary approach in Iran, which, due to its attention to knowledge-based economy, takes a step towards prosperity and smoothing progress and development. The purpose of this study is to investigate the interactions between university, industry and government of Iran in scientific articles in the field of medical engineering using the triple helix model. 
Materials and Methods: This is an applied research with a quantitative approach and uses scientometric techniques. The status of dynamic interactions of the main pillars of Iranian innovation in the field of medical engineering in WoS (Web of Science) database has been calculated using the .exe and the 4.exe softwares in the period of 2010-2019, and the transmission degree of uncertainty index in dual and national dimensions has been determined.
Results: The T-index ranking was assigned to university-government(23.38 mb), university-industry(8.47 mb) and industry-government (1.13 mb), respectively, and finally, national interaction(-12.48 mb) was obtained. The interaction between university and industry had an increasing trend and the strongest dual interaction belonged to the university-government. Over the last ten years, national interaction has always had a negative value, which indicates the existence of dynamics in interactions in the national dimension.
Conclusion: The dual university-industry interaction has been increasing in recent years; however, in the long run, the national interaction of the pillars has been facing a declining trend, according to which some science and technology policies, and research and industrial strategies have been proposed as a necessity to promote the university-industry-government innovation network in the field of medical engineering in Iran.
