Abstract
Background and aim: One of the most important technological advancements for monitoring patients -- especially in anesthesia, recovery, and Intensive Care stages -- is pulse oximetry which can measure the oxygen saturation of arterial blood (spo2) and show hypoxemia before it is clinically observable. Therefore, it is necessary for the individuals who are responsible for treating and taking care of patients in critical stages to have sufficient knowledge about it. If they lack the required knowledge, they should be trained using appropriate methods.
Materials and methods: Upon referring to the ORs and the ICUs, a questionnaire was distributed among the medical and paramedical staff (doctors, nurses, anesthesia technicians, etc.) to assess their knowledge of pulse oximetry. The questionnaire had a part for demographic data and 20 true/false items and was to be filled in by the subjects in 15 minutes. After the data were collected and analyzed, the subjects' level of knowledge about pulse oximetry was assessed in terms of age, sex, academic degree, their experience with the device, and how they had obtained information about pulse oximetry. The variable was measured on a 0-20 scale. The subjects would get one point for every correct response and the total number of correct responses would constitute each individual's score.
Results: The results of the study show that only 15.8% of the participants had a high level of knowledge of pulse oximetry. The figure was 61% for those having medium-level knowledge and 23.2% for the individuals with low knowledge. In other words, for the optimal use of the device, 84.2% of the subjects need training. The results also indicate that the subjects' level of knowledge is positively related to their sex, academic degree, and how they acquired their knowledge. In fact, female subjects, paramedical staff, and those who had obtained information from colleagues and the companies selling the device had a lower level of knowledge needed for using the device properly. However, no statistically significant difference was found between the subjects' knowledge of pulse oximetry and their age and experience with the device.
Conclusion: Based on the findings, it is necessary for the female members of paramedical staff to be trained in classes and/or be provided with pamphlets on the issue.

Abstract
Background and Aim: The main goal of each hospital - like all health care sectors - is protecting and increasing the health level in orsig country. The important role of human resources in hospitals is appropriate strategic decisions making for fast environmental changes and shows the need of staff participation. Nurses as a one of the biggest parts of hospital staff need to participate much more in strategic decision making in hospitals. This article is aimed to measure the level of nurses' participation in strategic decisions making.
Materials and Methods: This research is descriptive - analytic. Total nurses of Shariati hospital were 577 nurses of which 175 nurses were selected and studied.The gathering information instrument was questionnaire adapted from Dustdar thesis. This questionnaire contained 35,5 - choice questions set by Likert basis. Project's data was analyzed with SPSS software in % 95 confidence levels and statistical specifications like mean, standard error,correlation and non parametric tests were used.
Results: According to the results obtained, there are meaningful relation between staff participation in strategic decision making and: marriage situation (PV=0.01), Decision Directing (PV=0.0), culture of participation (PV=0.00), organization maturity (PV=0.00) and risk tolerance (PV=0.01)
Conclusions: It has been observed that nurse participation in strategic decision making in Shariati hospital is in "low" position (participation mean score: 28.52 from 100). So an administrator effort for spreading culture of participation to owner's process is something that should be paid attention more than before.

Abstract
Background and Aim: Investigations have indicated that general health is associated with behavior style and interpersonal relationships. The present study was performed in order to investigate the relationship between general health and leadership style in managers at Shiraz University of Medical Sciences, and its effect on job satisfaction in staff.
Materials and Methods: 33 managers and 132 staff were randomly selected. Participants completed Pourbaneh leadership style, Goldberg general health and Herzberg job satisfaction questionnaires. In order to analysis data Pearson correlation coefficient, independent t test and Chi-square were used.
Results: There is a positive relationship between manager's general health and their leadership style and also between manager's leadership style and job satisfaction in staff. Also there is no significant difference between numbers of managers in 4 kinds of leadership styles.
Conclusion: Empathy, self awareness, high motivation and self confidence, are characteristics that cause positive relationship between general health and participative leadership style. These characteristics also increase self-confidence, motivation and thus increase job satisfaction in staff.

Abstract
Background and Aim: To optimize emergency services depend s on appropriate management structures and efficient and effective information system design . This study aim ed to investigate emergency department staff's information needs of emergency information system and to design a conceptual model of these needs.
Materials and Methods: This descriptive study was performed among nurses and emergency medicine professionals working in emergency units of 9 hospitals affiliated to Tehran and Shahid Beheshti U niversities of M edical S ciences . Data w ere collected by interviewing 25 staff members in the emergency department , model d esign by RUP method and UML language and questionnaire d istribution among 315 staff members in the emergency department. Data collected were analyzed by descriptive statistics and SPSS.
Results: Most nurses and emergency medicine physicians believed that multiple data elements such as time of patient’s first visit and procedure , t he latest status of patient, medical procedure taken , and paraclinical procedure taken must exist in the emergency information system . Also 68.3% (108) of them agreed with the relationship between data elements required in the clinical practice process .
Conclusion : It is concluded that the presence of identity , clinical , and paraclinical data in emergency information systems can produce an electronic medical record. According to these data, elements can improve the coordination between the hospital emergency and pre- hospital rescue teams , controlling of victim status , access to patient reports and quality of service to patients.

Abstract
Background and
Aim: X-Ray departments
are among the most essential and expensive parts of any healthcare
organization. Meanwhile, the proper application of hospital information systems
(HIS) leads to the quality enhancement of health services and to the cost
reduction of medical departments. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the
knowledge of radiology department staffs in hospitals affiliated to Hamadan
University of Medical Sciences (HUMS) about HIS applications.
Materials and
Methods: In
this descriptive research (2012), the knowledge of radiology department staffs
in HUMS hospitals was studied using a two-part questionnaire including a
demographic part and standard items to evaluate the HIS knowledge of radiology
department staffs. Finally, the obtained data were analyzed statistically by
SPSS (version 17).
Results:
The results showed that 3.8% of staff members had a weak
awareness, 65.4% an average awareness, and 30.8% a good awareness about HIS
applications. Perfect awareness was not observed in this study.
Conclusion: According
to the results of this study, running related and up-to-date courses for staff
members working in radiology departments is recommended.

Abstract
Background and Aim: Job rotation is one of the management policies in human resource management. If these policies are done with proper planning, they can impress job satisfaction and job burnout of the employees. Present survey has been conducted in order to find relationship between job rotation with job satisfaction and job burnout.
Materials and Methods: A descriptive analytical methodology was used in 2013. The statistical community included all personnel with job rotation at the deputy of development in Tehran University of Medical Sciences (n=200). A researcher-constructed questionnaire was used to collect data. The data was analyzed by SPSS.
Results: The mean job rotation and job burnout among men were more than women. A direct and significant relationship exists between job rotation and job burnout among the women. Job rotation and job burnout were inversely and significantly correlated.
Conclusion: Job rotation can have influence on increasing employees’ incentives and satisfactions and reduce Job burnout. Thus, the managers need to create an environment which contributes to knowledge transactions within an organizational framework together with promotion of encouraging their mentalities and with designing a good incentive system for teamwork, through the movement of workers in different occupations.

Abstract
Background and Aim: Organizational productivity and efficiency depends on staff members’ job satisfaction and performance. Without the participation of staff members, hospitals cannot play an important role in promoting the society’s health. This study aimed to determine staff’s job satisfaction in a teaching hospital of Tehran university of Medical Sciences (TUMS).
Materials and Methods: This descriptive, analytical cross-sectional research was conducted on 172 staff members of a teaching hospital, who had been selected through random sampling. The data-collection tool was a researcher-made questionnaire. The validity of the questionnaire was confirmed by the clinical governance department members and Cronbach’s alpha reliability estimate turned out to be 0.88.
Results: Para-clinical and service employees getting the mean scores of 72.55 and 70.71 demonstrated desired job satisfaction; nursing and administrative-financial staff members, however, showed a relatively desired job satisfaction with mean scores of 60.04 and 53.52, respectively; and the difference between job groups was significant (p=0.02) regarding job satisfaction. The highest job satisfaction figure was related to job success and the lowest pertained to the nature of the job. There was a meaningful relationship between job satisfaction on the one hand and staff members’ gender, marital status, and type of employment on the other.
Conclusion: Staff’s job satisfaction in the studied hospital has increased due to the establishment of Iran’s Healthcare Reform Plan at the beginning of 2014. However, compared with other job groups, nurses are less satisfied; therefore, it is necessary to improve nursing job satisfaction through timely payments based on job performance and difficulty level.

Abstract
Background and Aim: Job Burnout syndrome consists of emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and reduced personal accomplishment. The health system personnel to deal with stress because of physical, mental, and emotional intensity are at risk of burnout.
The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between burnout and general health of the financial staff hospitals of Tehran.
Materials and Methods: In this cross-sectional study, the sample size consisted of 150 financial administrative personnel employed by university hospitals of Tehran University of Medical Sciences which were selected by random sampling.
The instrument was included demographic information, general health questionnaire and the Maslach Burnout questionnaire, which was already confirmed for its validity and reliability.
Results: The results showed a significant correlation (p<0.001) between burnout and general health therefore public health was reduced with increased burnout.
There was also a significant relationship (p<0.05) between burnout and satisfaction with work and partners. But there was no significant relationship between age, gender, work experience, marital status and income.
Conclusion: Regarding the significant relationship between burnout and public health in this study, the use of improved working conditions and the promotion of mental health personnel is recommended.

Abstract
Background and Aim: Emergency medical services (EMS) staff’s attention level may be affected by various work conditions. This study aims to compare the beginning- and end-of-shift attention levels of Tehran’s pre-hospital emergency staff with those of Semnan Province.
Materials and Methods: This is a descriptive and cross-sectional research study conducted in 2013. In this study, 192 emergency medical technicians (EMT) of Tehran and Semnan Province participated. The research instrument was Bonnardel Attention Level Test. The participants’ attention level was assessed at 10 am and 5 am. The data were analyzed by chi-square test and independent samples t-test.
Results: At 10 am (arrival attention), the average rate of attention level of Tehran’s pre-hospital emergency staff was 0.49±0.25 and that of Semnan Province staff was 0.51±0.23. There was not a significant difference (p=0.58) at that time between the average rate of attention in these two groups. At 5 am (exit attention), however, the average attention level of Tehran’s pre-hospital emergency staff was 0.45±0.25, and of Semnan Province staff was 0.55±0.20. At this time, there was a statistically significant difference (P= 0.044) between the average rate of attention in these two groups.
Conclusion: The means of arrival and exit attention levels in pre-hospital emergency staffs were moderate. Besides, there was no significant difference between the arrival attention levels of the two groups. Therefore, in order to increase the attention level in both groups, it is suggested that the workload and the length of shifts should be reduced for pre-hospital emergency staffs, specially in Tehran.

Abstract
Background & Aim: Spiritual quotient is an essential factor of managers’ competencies for development of organizations. The managers need high spiritual quotient to impress the staffs’ organizational commitment. This research is aimed to determine the correlation between the managers’ spiritual quotient with the employees organizational commitment in Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS).
Materials and Methods: This research was a descriptive-analytical, and cross-section study that induced in TUMS headquarters among 80 of the managers and 225 of the staffs at 2014-2015. The research tools were two questionnaires, including spiritual quotient and organizational commitment that used after the validity and reliability of these questionnaires was confirmed. The data was analyzed by SPSS software, average and standard deviation, for descriptive results, and used T-Test, One-Way Variance Analysis, and Pearson technique for analytical statistics.
Results: Average of the managers’ spiritual quotient was desired. Although, the average of the staffs organizational commitment was moderate. There was a significant correlation between spiritual quotient of managers with organizational commitment of the staffs (p=0.034).
Conclusion: The managers should emphasize to develop their spiritual quotient in order to promote the organizational commitment of the staffs. Using organizational psychologist to develop this relationship is our suggestion.

Abstract
Background and Aim: Creativity and innovation are considered among the most important factors that help an organization survive. Therefore, it seems necessary to examine the status of this important issue in healthcare organizations such as hospitals. The present study was conducted to determine the relationship between organizational innovation and creativity among the staff of teaching hospitals of Tehran University of Medical Sciences (TUMS).
Materials and Methods: This descriptive-analytical and cross-sectional study was conducted on 285 staff members of TUMS selected teaching hospitals in 2015. To collect the required data, demographic data form, organizational creativity
questionnaire and Martin Patchen’s innovation questionnaire were used. Data were analyzed in SPSS software version 21, using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA and Pearson correlation analysis at a less-than-0.05 significance level.
Results: The organizational creativity rate for the studied staff showed an average of 2.99±0.80, assessed at middle and lower middle levels and the organizational innovation rate showed an average of 19.37±3.71, assessed as middle and upper middle. A statistically significant relationship was observed between organizational creativity and organizational innovation (p=0.02, r=0.20).
Conclusion: The results suggest that an increase in creativity leads to an increase in innovation. Therefore, to survive and maintain a competitive advantage to provide more desirable treatment services at a high quality, hospital managers are required to use their best effort and expenditure so that they can enhance innovation within their organizations.

Abstract
Background and Aim: In each organization, there is a debate about the use of IT. Human development is one of the factors influencing the efficiency and success of any organization. The present study aimed to investigate the effects of information technology on empowerment of staff working in Tehran University of Medical Sciences.
Materials and Methods: This study was descriptive-survey research and applied in terms of purpose. A total of 274 staff members from the Tehran University of Medical Sciences were surveyed by sampling according to the Krejcie-Morgan table from among 950 employees. The tools used in the Ardalan questionnaire were divided into two parts of IT, including 10 questions and a staff empowerment questionnaire containing 23 questions. Data were analyzed by SPSS 13 software, Kolmogorov-Smirnov test and one-sample T-test.
Results: The research findings showed that the use of information technology on five dimensions of job empowerment including competency, improvement of quality of work, increased decision-making power, increasing self-control, and reducing job stress have a significant effect.
Conclusion: The most important task of managers of universities is to improve the ability and job satisfaction of employees, holding in-service training courses in the field of computers and the Internet and encouraging employees to use more computers in their related activities.

Abstract
Background and Aim: With empowerment of employees, organizations can take very effective steps in the path to growth and development, which is possible through examining the factors affecting it. This study aimed to determine psychological empowerment and factors affecting it on the staff of medical sciences universities of Tehran.
Materials and Methods: This cross-sectional analytical descriptive study was conducted in 2018 among the personnel of selected medical sciences universities of Tehran (Tehran, Iran, and Islamic Azad University). The universities were randomly selected using cluster sampling, and sample members were chosen from each university in an accessible manner. The sample included 410 individuals. The research instrument was a researcher-made psychological empowerment questionnaire. Validity and reliability (α=0.89) of the questionnaire were confirmed. Data were analyzed by SPSS version 22, Chi-square test, and Pearson correlation coefficient. P<0.05 was considered as a significant level.
Results: Of the 410 subjects, 290 (70.7%) were female. The highest percentage (51.4%) of employees in all three universities had moderate ability. Pearson's correlation coefficient showed a direct and meaningful statistical relationship between employees' ability and the factors affecting it such as sense of competence, sense of meaningfulness, and sense of the right to choose (p<0.001). The highest correlation (r=0.654) was found between significant sensory factor and employees' ability (p<0.001).
Conclusion: The results showed that the psychological empowerment of staff in medical sciences universities is moderate. Also, there are many factors such as sense of meaningfulness, sense of being effective, sense of the right to choose, and sense of competence in their psychological empowerment.

Abstract
Background and Aim: CBRN incidents Chemical, Biological, Radioactive and Nuclear are often unpredictable and invisible, leading to fear, anxiety, and disruptions in the provision of healthcare services in the community. The potential consequences and costs of unpreparedness for CBRN incidents can be significant. Rapid and appropriate responses to CBRN incidents play a crucial role in mitigating adverse physical health effects and reducing mortality rates. These factors heavily depend on the preparedness of hospital emergency staff. This study aimed to explore the experiences of hospital emergency clinical staff regarding their preparedness for responding to CBRN incidents in 2024 in Tehran.
Materials and Methods: The present study was a qualitative research employing a conventional content analysis approach. The study population consisted of clinical emergency staff from four hospitals, including one educational-specialized hospital, two public-general hospitals, and one private-general hospital. Participants were selected purposively and through snowball sampling, ensuring maximum variation among clinical emergency staff of hospitals in Tehran Province. Data were collected via in-depth, semi-structured interviews with 13 participants, and sampling continued until data saturation was achieved. For data analysis, the qualitative approach proposed by Graneheim and Lundman was employed, and MAXQDA software version 2022 was used for qualitative data management.
Results: In this study, 13 hospital emergency clinical staff members, including nurses, nursing managers, physicians, and laboratory science experts (8 males and 5 females), with an average work experience of 13 years and 11 months, were interviewed. Findings were extracted in the form of 7 main categories (resources, training and practice, contamination control, coordination, planning and instructions, management and treatment of casualties, structure), 13 subcategories, and 35 semantic codes. The results showed that the lack of specialized training, the absence of appropriate infrastructure for decontamination, and weak intra- and extra-departmental coordination are among the most important challenges to the preparedness of emergency staff in dealing with CBRN incidents. Participants also emphasized the need to provide personal protective equipment, develop specific instructions, and hold periodic drills.
Conclusion: Currently, the level of preparedness of hospital emergency clinical staff in responding to CBRN incidents is limited. Emergency staff play a vital role in responding to CBRN incidents. To ensure their preparedness and response efforts are fully effective, and considering the rising global threats of CBRN incidents, it is recommended to adopt strategies, policies, programs, coordination efforts, funding, and other necessary measures to enhance the preparedness of emergency staff for CBRN incidents.
