Introduction: Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) is the most common Entrapment neuropathy in human. Different clinical and electodiagnsitic methods with sensory or motor latency have been used for diagnosis of CTS, but still there are not enough criteria for patients' selection for operation and when the chance of operation is more. Materials and methods: In this article we have decided to analyze the pressure effect of cuff of the sphygmomanometer over the arm on electro diagnosis in patients with carpal tunnel syndrome. Results: We have selected 30 patients with symptoms of CTS who have been referred to Khashani hospital of Shrekord. In all of the patients before and after 3 to 5 minutes of pressure the motor latency was increased up to 10% and in 22 cases in the same condition sensory increased more than 10%. Those with sensory latency more than 5 milli seconds were satisfied more than those with less increased sensory latency after 24 hours and 14 days of operation. Discussion: The double effects of direct pressure and ischemia over the proximal parts of the median nerve and because the cooperation of the patients is not necessary this is a very useful test for decision making in patients with signs and symptoms of CTS.
