Hartnup is a rare genetic defect in the transport of tryptophan and other neutral amino acids in the small intestine and the proximal renal tubule. The main manifestations of HD are pellagra- like skin rash, photosensitivity and episode of cerebellar ataxia, mental disturbances and renal aminoaciduria. This paper discussed a 14 years old girl with rash, photosensitivity, ataxia, diarrhea and neutral aminoaciduria with dramatic response to nicotinic acid. |
