عنوان انگلیسی Electrophysiologic manifestations of miller fisher syndrome: A case report
چکیده انگلیسی مقاله Introduction: Miller Fisher syndrome (MFS) is a variant of Guillain-Barre syndrome characterized by the triad of ophthalmoplegia, ataxia and areflexia. Different findings are observed in electrophysiologic studies of these patients which mostly demonstrate reduction of sensory nerve action potential (SNAP). Other than presenting a case of Miller Fisher syndrome, her serial electrophysiologic studies are evaluated in this report. Case report: We report a case of 45-years old woman that was hospitalized due to diplopia and gait disorders. She presented with ophthalmoplegia, ataxia, areflexia, facial and oropharyngeal weakness and distal sensory disturbance. Electrophysiologic assessment showed normal motor nerve conduction studies (NCS) and reduction of SNAP's amplitude in most peripheral nerves, which was significantly more reduced during the course of disease. Patient responded slightly to plasmapheresis. Conclusion: Electrophysiologic findings of our patient was mostly similar to other studies however, gradual reduction of SNAP's amplitude in Ulnar nerves was considerable which assists that electrophysiologic findings of Miller Fisher syndrome may be normal or near normal at the time of the beginning of disease course - like what happen in patients with Guillain-Barre syndrome- but may show abnormal findings later.
