Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Legionella pneumophila is a dangerous pathogenic bacterium can cause serious infection diseases especially in hospitalized immunocompromised patients. In this study the antibacterial activity of some benzofuranone derivatives has been investigated by disk diffusion method against L. pneumophila . Most antibacterial activity was observed for compounds 1j and 1m which contain hydroxyl and methoxy groups on the C-6 and C-7 positions against L. pneumophila . Also the sensitivity of this test strains was evaluated against 40 antibiotics and the combination effect of reserpine with these antibiotics was studied using disk diffusion method with some modification. The indole alkaloid r eserpine significantly enhanced the antibacterial activities of kanamycin, nitrofurantoin, cotrimoxazole, erythromycin, ofloxacillin, gentamycin, rifampin, ciprofloxacin, nalidixic acid, minocycline, tobramycin and amikacin against L. pneumophila . /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0cm 5.4pt 0cm 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0cm; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} |
