Abstract
Sarcoidosis is a chronic multisystem disorder of unknown etiology. All parts of the body can be affected but the organ most frequently affected is the lung. Otolaryngologic manifestations occur in 20% to 40% of cases of Sarcoidosis and the spectrum of lesions that may come under the purview of Otolaryngologist is broad. In this case report a patient is presented with large cervical lymphadenopathy and without other manifestation of disorder.

Abstract
Amyloid is a term used to describe a collection of proteinaceous material that has certain microscopic characteristics. Amyloidosis of the larynx is a rare benign process but is the most common site for isolated amyloid deposits to occur in the head and neck. Three cases of localized laryngeal amyloidosis were identified with the supraglottic region as the major site of involvement in two of them. Hoarsness was the presenting symptom. High resolution computed tomography scan was used to evaluate the extension of desease. Endoscopic and open surgical approaches were used for management of the patients.

Abstract
Background: Several therapeutic modalities have been cited for patients with microtia. Recently there are several reports about using cadaveric homograft cartilage for some other purposes. The aim of this study was to assess the results of auricular reconstruct-tion in 10 patients (12 ears) with congenital atresia using homograft rib cartilage from the Iranian Tissue Bank.
Methods: We enrolled 10 patients with microtia who were referred to the Imam Khomeini Hospital from September 2006 to July 2007 for auricular reconstruction. The reconstruction was performed using a pre-shaped homograft(s) of each patient's ear(s) made by the Iranian Tissue Bank from the 6th, 7th and 8th costal cartilage according to the method of Marquette. In six patients, the second stage of reconstructive surgery was performed three months after the first stage. The patients were followed regarding the ear appearance, the dimensions of cartilage and tissue reaction.
Results: The mean age of the patients was 11.08 (SD=5.57) years and the average duration of follow-up was 6.29 (SD=3.12) months. Eight cases had unilateral involvement (six right and two left), in addition to two cases of bilateral involvement. During the follow-up period, the appearance of the helix was satisfactory in 11 ears and the lobule in 10 ears. The height and width of the reconstructed auricles was an average of 1-2 millimeters different from the opposite ear. Erythema was the most common early complication. Late complications, including cartilage exposure and infection, were observed in one patient.
Conclusion: Auricular reconstruction using homograft costal cartilage in patients with microtia has promising results. The short term resorption can be ignored and significant early or late complications are infrequent.

Background: American pediatric Association proposes to
screen all neonates with Oto-Acoustic Emission (OAE). In developing countries, because of several limitations,
health policy makers recommend to screen only in high risk patients. This study is performed with the aim to screen
hearing loss in 950 high risk newborns hospitalized in hospitals
affiliated to Tehran University using the OAE test.
Methods: A total of 950 neonates hospitalized in the Neonatal and NICU wards of
Vali-e-Asr, Shariati, Medical Center and Bahrami Hospitals during the years 2004-2006 who
showed at least one risk factor using TEOAE hearing test were enrolled into this cross-sectional
descriptive analytical study and were diagnosed with mild deafness and total
deafness. Blood exchange due to hyperbillirubinemia, septicemia, congenital
heart disease, the fifth minute apgar scores below six, PROM more than six hours, epilepsia, need to NICU more than five hours, pneumonia and Oto-Toxic drugs
were considered as risk factors. Data was past medical history, current
disease, admission cause, sign & symptoms and complications of disease.
Results: Multivariate logistic regression and paired t-test
showed that blood exchange, low birth weight and low first minute Apgar scores
had the highest independent risk for hearing loss among newborn.
Conclusion: Despite of the low prevalence of neonatal hearing loss,
screening of hearing loss at early stages is important.
